I agree with you about the song being about not being able to find someone. You can look everywhere and sometimes it just seems like you cant find anything, the rain doesn't stop. You can even look so hard that it should be just as easy to find someone as it is to turn and umbrella upside down and catch rain.
As far as the highway strip, maybe he drives (I know I do) when he feels lonely, gets out to try to just think and figure it out, but the driving alone late at night (maybe in the rain) just throws him deeper into the realization of the loneliness, like cold cement.
When the song talks about saying you will never know what you will find and be careful, I think it talks about how it is easy to get desperate and settle for less then what you deserve.
My two cents from across the lake, this. |

When the songs takes off and gets loud, that says a lot about the lyrics and the song itself - He says he is a machine - in the industrial revoulution machines replaced man power, the ability to do more than one thing at once, multi-tasking, but yet this is a machine that can not do that. Is he overwhelmed to the point he can only focus on one task at a time? I am not sure from there |

I don't see the Ender's Game reference - Ender was never really a kid who was filled with "fire" and "fury" to become a man. He kinda keeps to himself and is pretty reserved in the book. Yeah he has a few lashouts but nothing to characterize him being enraged at going to the military camp for his entire childhood, Ender never really fucks up a lot. |

"I know I'm not the only one that's filling the void
Creatively hip-hop is being destroyed
A lot of rappers really need to be unemployed
because the topics that them talk about has got me annoyed"
Pushing 3 years and no one has commented. This song is about how much today's rap SUCKS! He has it here, he's got the truth all laid out |

It's a pretty easy song. He was wild about this girl, it didn't end so well, an despite the fact he still misses her he still wishes it never happened. Just to save face. Solid beat, catchy |

Not lame at all. These lyrics take a genre of music to an area rarely explored in this type of music. This is all about Corporate America and how people fall into fads to fit in.
"By enter their avulsion, their copy-cat trends
You’ll become a pawn for the rest of their end
Drown or die"
I'm not a fan of the Truth Orginization but this song reminds me of it a lot.
" The marketing kings are at it again
They're selling you lies, becoming your friend
Until the end
Irresistible job, a role-playing game, the target is you
And they’re taking aim"
"Corporate contenders with imperial goals,
They’re hitting agendas aren’t always exposed"
I think this song is the middle finger to Corporate powerhouses that flex their influential muscles on weak-minded people. Spitalfield is taking it to a new level |

The drums and guitar in the beginning lay out a serious element and it changes directions entirely toward the end and contributes to the songs meaning.
This song is all about denial. For example when mediating in two sided arguments, the side state first is always more influential than the second because the first lays out the base coat and is hard to overrule
"Put on that deserving tone
and don't forget that this was all your fault."
The writer is explaining that the complainer is unjustified in the statement and undeserving of sympathy. This is about how the person that is bening sung about is in a state of denial and lives in that state.
"Cause all we can't deny is just a lie.
And when we try to just get by
We just can't get past ourselves."
In short, this girl (presumably) is placing the blame in the wrong place because of her mentality of denial, and in a matter of time (where the song changes directions for a more positive sound, like an epiphany) she will learn her problem and change it.
I should turn this thing in for a term paper, I looked way too deep, hah! |
