I believe Robert Hunter wrote this line on an acid trip. "Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds" Its pretty much an acid trip if you ask me "Mirror shatters in formless reflections of matter. Glass hand dissolving to ice petal flowers" these thing only happen on acid. i do understand though people interpret songs differently but if any song is a trip it's Dark Star everyone knows that and frankly i cant believe there are not more posts about this song maybe that is because it is so obvious the meaning that is. peace and love and legalize marijuana dont just say it do it get out there take some signatures. |

Robert wrote dark star under the influence of lsd as far i was informed. maybe not right at the moment he was peaking but im sure he has written plenty coming on or coming out of a trip, to say he didnt right under the influence would be a far stratch if you ask me. Very well put, rynlnk i was trying to explain that same thing to some people on the comfortably nump board, although youve phrased the experience much better than i did,it is truly something you will never understand unles you've had the experience,it almost seems like thats what they meant by the whole permanant damage bullcrap surounding certain drugs. if thats the case i recomend it to everyone.the world would be much better if everyone could find that sort of understanding about this WHOLE THING life ,planets, thought,sun, space ,nothing........................................... everything!!! Instead of prozac doctors should recomend the death of your ego every 6 months. And i feel that the line about the "paint by numbers sky";is probably the way the san fransiscan sky looked after 300mics or so anyway those were my thoughts after reading all of your post peace love and legalize marijuana |

CHECK OUT Robert Hunter he wrote most of the grateful deads songs and usually was on lsd read some of his lyrics pink floyds music is totaly psycodelic and they got the whole idea from syd and what was happenin around the time lets say syd was the muse after goin off the edge |

total acid trip, unless youve been there you'd never know untill your laid out on the floor and cant move while your losing your ego to the psycodelic gods you wont know JUST DONT DO IT WATCHING THE WALL i ate some really potent acid one time at a buddies house and he wanted to watch the wall....worste bad trip ever he went storming into the rest of the house where his family was freakin out so i called my brotgher to get me and my girl as we are waiting outside for my bro this kids aunt pokes her head out the window and tells his grampa ....THERE ALL ON ACID PAP! LONG STORY SHORT...MY BROTHER GOT THERE AND WE WERE HEADED OUT RIGHT AS THE AMBULANCE TURNED THE CORNER....THEN THE TRIP REALLY KICKED IN AND TURNED GOOD LIGHT POLES WERE BENDING OVER THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND SMOOTH CLEAN FEELING CAME OVER ME AS WE LEFT THAT HOUSE NARROWLY ESCAPED..... some might say it was a hostile take over by gilmore to out syd...lets look at other psycodelic bands of the era.... because lsd is a creative drug just look at san fransico in the late 60's, and the grateful dead used to play at the acid test, on acid. so some might say that david gilmore came in and rousted out syd because yes syd was taking plenty of acid but he was also coming up with some amazing shit. and then david got rid if roger waters and the whole thing went to hell. so lets all thank greedy ass baby david gilmore for fuckin it over.Ya know correct me if im wrong but i think he even screwed waters out of most of the music rights rogers only own the rights to the wall movie and record. Jerry Garcia played way more shows and probably ate just as much acid as syd plus toured constantly for 30 years.it was the junk and sleep apnea that got him not the acid. |

i agree with gray.....i live in vegas and there was a buzz around the time they had the sewing championship that some famous band was gonna be there....and btw i think they should have had syd tag along the rest of the years anyhow...i mean just cause a guy is spaced 98% of the time doesnt mean you just throw him aside...they had plenty of loot to keep his head dosed.he would have loved it...and also syd is alive for all the idiots who dont know shit just get some news about him on google damn people oh yeah hahahaha about the went braindead on one trip from shrooms they r the mildest psycodelics there are...take one shroom and put two drops of lsd-25 on top call me in the mornin adn the part about lips moving but not hearing whats said is a deffinate corelation to psycodelic drugs .....you ever tasted a sound or heard a color some have...try the good stuff |
