This is an amazing song and I'll tell you what it means to me, maybe you'll agree with some of it. I think it's about how his family was torn by constant fighting between his parents. When he says "they are starving for this beauty we are sick with distance" I think it's a reference to how he is wishing for a happy family life but it is so far removed from what his family are really like and he is therefore "sick with distance". "Grieving for his failure" may be about his father and possibly the cause for the fighting(alcoholic maybe). "Only the deaf find peace" because it would be peaceful if he couldn't hear the fighting and the hatred. "Only the blind won't reach", if he didn't see how happy other families were then he wouldn't know there was anything wrong with his own situation. Sorry it's a bit long. I hope it makes sense to someone. |
