i want to thank no anesthetic, i was most interested to see what someone who is well-versed in the bible would say, considering i have only a vague understanding of judaism, let alone Christianity. the song is obviously about jesse's (or the persona in the song) relationship to religion, jesus. i have to say, i take the most meaning out of "or do I divide and pull apart/cause my bright is too slight to hold back all my dark." especially as "pull" is the correct wording, pulling meaning something else is breaking him/his soul a part, rather than just naturally "falling" apart. i don't remember very well, like i said, i've never studied the new testament, but isn't there one teaching that in hell, the soul or the body is torn apart? |
