| Bayside – Paternal Reversal Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Going along with all the songs that aren't remakes of songs featured on earlier albums (i.e. Megan & Baby Britain) Paternal Reversal seems to me like a song not written by Bayside itself. Perhaps, as the name of the troubled boy in the song is Tony (and the lead singer of Bayside being Anthony), and Anthony's lack of discretion in describing the troubles the band goes through at shows, in interviews, etc., this was written by a friend with him in mind and performed by the band. |

| All Time Low – Remembering Sunday Lyrics | 18 years ago |

basically what i hear from this is a man who loved a woman who, from fear of committment, never admitted her love for him. She went missing, explaining the late night calls the man makes to strangers asking "have you seen this girl" and her neighbors' assumptions that she had moved away. While she was murdered from by her captor, her biggest regret ("I've done something so terrible") was never letting this man know how she truly felt, and leaving him alone without the knowledge of her love. The true tragedy, though, is that the man returns home, having given up on his search for the woman, convinced that she had left because she didn't love him the way he loved her. He did not and may never know that she did indeed love him. P.S. The line "I'm over you now" in the woman's part suggests strongly that ay one point, she did have feelings for him. |

well this songs meaning is kinda clear (much more than other SOAD songs though)...considering the title and the lyrics but what SOAD did in this song was the arrangment In the mezmerize version, the song was short and to the point, as the war in Iraq was originally intended to be. But in the Hypnotize version, a story unfolds. It talks about leaving home, god's disaprooval, how we seem to never leave, and then finally, it goes into the chorus from the Mezmerize version. The message, though is much powerful b/c it gives a new aspect on the war, then repeats what theyve said before, giving a new perspective on the story. |

| Goldfinger – 99 Red Balloons Lyrics | 20 years ago |

the red balloons represent problems alone, the problems mean nothing, but as a group, say 99 of them, they can be mistaken for an act of war. The other nation returns fire and wallah, a war is started. In this case, the cold war. |

| System of a Down – Vicinity of Obscenity Lyrics | 20 years ago |

this is about prostatution and kinky sex in general. The whole "whores" part is about a prostetute with bad feet from footjobs (as graciously pointed out by jeems) and the milky seat is about ejaculation as he/she also said. But the part thats the strangest and the hardest to understand is the banana teracotta pie pie part. I think, and I'm most likely wrong, that these are safety words for odd sex. I didnt think of this until i saw the Family Guy episode when Peter and Lois are in leather and chains and she tells him the safety word is banana. Again, I could be wrong. |

just to add to SkylarWilcox, tienanmen square was a famous public square in beijing where a human rights protest took place and the protesters were opened fire upon. Anyway I think this song is about how the government, whether it be the US government or that of China hides things. The line "why don't you ask the kids at Tienanmen Square, discretion, the reason, why they were there" is asking to the Chinese government sarcastically what happened, basically saying that they've tried to push it under the rug but we can't hear the other side of the story because the other side's dead. I think the rest, and I could be wrong, is about how they're trying to live simple lives and comparing those simplicities to the complexities of war, just as they did in BYOB. Waiting for my girl could mean waiting for his country to claim their mistakes, as people often describe countries as femanines. |
