| This is an incredible song...and you guys are right, the Gorge is amazing...but more amazing if you're there (living in eastern WA has its perks!) because everyone is silent...you're down in a river gorge, in dave's favorite place to play, with 20,000 dave fans around you, and the sound is amazing with just him and his guitar, the lights and fog make an amazing scene...its a show every dave fan must see in his or her lifetime | |

I dunno if this has been said or even if Dave has said the true meaning but I am convinced this song is about ecstacy (the drug). When you are on ecstacy its referred to as "rolling". There are so many references to "rolling" if you let anyone that knows drugs listen to this song thats what they'd tell you. Ecstacy is nicknamed the love drug, when you're on it, you feel close to everyone, you are in the best mood of your life, you share thoughts you'd never share, you express feelings you couldnt sober, its an amazing drug. This song is all about love, having fun, good times. When you're on E the high is around 8hours, you are up til early morning....you dance, dancing and music are a huge part of E. Look at the lyrics again... "This time is so alive Everybody's tranced, dancing tonight" i mean are you kidding me? tranced? i dunno this song to me just screams E just my input! |

First of all I don't think people are getting deep enough into this song, they are reading the lyrics and revealing what seems obvious. I think this song is a huge metaphor. I think andy has come the closest so far, and I loved his reference to Allegory of the Cave...the shadows on the wall, not knowing what we really are and what is out there, and yes, it may be a stretch, but I'd never thought of that before in reference to the shadows of the song, and it certainly fits iwth the theme of future and people and the human race. Props to andy1337 for picking up on that. And if you guys don't know what Allegory of the Cave is I suggest you read it, it's great. |
