I think this song is about how it should have been. Assuming the narrator is Delilah, she fell in love with Samson for real, even before he loved her, and he was the first man she ever loved. Instead of tricking him into letting her cut his hair, and she got a barber to do it, she should have gone to him in the nighttime and maybe he would have let her do it, no deception. She should have done it herself, and he would have been willing to let her take his strength like that.
He was her downfall because she didn't want to do her job after that, she loved him for real and he ruined her by stealing her heart.
After she cut his hair he should have held her and kissed her, and told her it would be fine. They could live quietly as normal people rather than being big figures in history. If he had given up his strength to live with her, he couldn't have pulled the columns down, because he wouldn't have had to. They could have been happy instead of notorious. History would have forgotten them and they could have just been people. |

To me this song is about falling off the wagon, as it were. When an addict relapses, thats what it sounds like to me.
I connect it with self harm as well, but thats just me. It could be relationship stuff, most songs seem to be. |
