Modest Mouse uses symbols and paradox thoughtout their lyrics and song titles all the time (ex. tundra desert, night on the sun). They say everything i try to say but cant put into words, not as much in this song though. Isaac Brock is a genius when it comes to making lyrics. I wish this song was a bit longer because its so brilliant. the background singer ties the accordian and vocals in real nice.
what i think isaac is saying in this song is that its impossible to not know that everything dies, because death is a part of life. The line where he says, "if you're not thinking at all i dont know why you're alive." is saying that only if your dead can you not think and realize that youre not dead. its simple and complex at the same time. |

i actually dont really care if they are famous (good for them), all im in for is the music, and fame tends to make bands sound different, in which case is usually worse. in my opinion this is happening to modest mouse |
