To me this song has always been (because of personal experience) someone who is depressed/having a hard time in life trying to get himself to talk to a girl that he likes/is in love with. Hence "You'll sit alone forever/if you wait for the right time/what are you hoping for?" He's talking to himself or to the person listening, imparting his own advice a little bit to the listener. He missed his chance to say what he wanted to a friend that he was falling in love with ("I felt for sure last night/at once we said goodbye/no one else will know these lonely dreams/no one else will know that part of me"). Anyway, just my interpretation, probably been said already. |
