I believe this is part of the "concept" portion of the album, no?
The whole "Would I die for you? Here's your answer in spades: shotgun sinners, wild-eyed jokers, got you in my sights" is meaning "would I die for you? Here's your answer in spades: I'd kill 1000 people for you"
also note the lines about climbing out of a pine box and the angels cutting out her tongue, the latter indicating her soul is in agony while he's fighting to get her back. |
