This song is amazing! I heard them play it live at Taste of Chaos. Everything went quiet and there were red lights and people crowd surfing on an ocean of people. i just thought of it that way from the song being about an ocean. hm to me taking a christian perspective on the song I guess the ocean represents maybe sadness or sin and how you sometimes feel numb kind of like your underwater and drowning. "And soon the sea shall give up her dead" People that are "dead" in sin? "she could take your life with one good kiss" kiss representing very strong temptation that feels good and looks good but in the end is just a "caricature of intimacy" and doesn't really satisfy you in the end. This ocean pulls you under and you need those "red sky" moments to pull you out. The feeling when you reach the surface and feel alive again. |

i love this song! This song reminds me of my really close friends because they totally accept me for who I am and they're with me no matter what. I have some "friends" who think they're better than everyone else and it pisses me off so much and its so hard to have fun with them because they're always gossipping and being stuck up. but my real friends we have fun doing nothing and they're amazing and next year we're all going to different schools and one of my friends moved to the u.s. so its sad. but whenever we hang out we go to concerts and this song sounds to me it is about a concert so yeah its perfect. | this is going to be a really different view on this song than everyone elses but this is what it means to me. Whenever I am overwhelmed or want to cry or break something I listen to this song and everything just goes away. One night I was really upset and I just sat on my floor and I began taking lights and random objects like peices of mirror and beads (I can be one of those insane artists at times) and placing them into patterns of blue and yellow. I just looked at it and I felt really calm and this song came on my iPOD and i was like hey blue and yellow. Just like the colors, the song came alive. If you get the right mix of emotion and music, the meaning will come to you, "burn a hole" through you. this song is amazing it just made me think of my uncle. He committed suicide a few years ago no one in my family knows why. I'm pretty sure he had depression. The sad thing is a few weeks after he died his wife found out she was pregnant. If he would've waited just a bit longer it would've been okay. This reminds me of this part in the song I wrote this for a baby Who has yet to be born My brother's first child I hope that womb's not too warm Cause it's cold out here And it will be quite a shock To breathe this air To discover loss I don't see my cousin at all because after my uncle died my aunt won't talk to our family anymore because she's not related to us and she just wants to forget the whole thing, but I feel like this part is written for my cousin Emma. Suicide really does effect everyone and I think my uncles story really proves that you should "hold on if you feel like letting go" cause it really would have gotten better. |
