| Cursive – No News Is Bad News Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Way_AE I completely agree. This new album is very very different from Cursive albums in the past. Musically, this album is very obviously different as far as the horns go and everything, but the biggest change in my opinion is the lyical direction that Tim has taken. One of the reasons I love Cursive and The Good Life so much is because of how personal the lyrics are. In Happy Hollow, Tim has gotten away from it, and I think the album suffers for it. Don't get me wrong, I do love this album. It's very very fresh and is one of my favorites, but for me it doens't come close to their older stuff. I guess I'll have to wait for the new The Good Life album for more personal songs from Tim | |

| Found it. To me, this song is Kasher making allusions to a couple of religious stories. First I think he's making a reference to the creation myth in which god creates the earth and then rests. And secondly, this song reminds me of the stations of the cross. | |

| I think Tim's just saying that you can't always get what you want. That's how life is, and sometimes you have to make sacrifices. | |

| Cursive – Returns and Exchanges Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"This is like pulling teeth." Said the man with the gap-toothed smile; Upon decline... So the silence seeped into an impatient line of returns and exchanges. And the silence brewed like a storm; As they brooded over their misfortunes... Some things you can't take We're all the same... We share a common weakness; We're all afraid of a pointless existence. Still the silence grows a crescendo, of deafening stillness. Silence you just can't speak; Much less repeat To your lover, Or your mirror. Cause such simple words Could leave us crushed As we deny that life is ___ It can't be exchanged. We're all the same... We're loveless liars tonight. We're all ashamed Of our life ___ We've been declined. We shouldn't have tried; To fake such existence |
