"it's gonna blow you away"
I first read the lyrics to this song right after I heard about some celebrity I'd never hear of being sent an acid bomb by a stalker. I think his "special delivery" is a bomb, not his heart. Giving her his heart would be gay. |

I have always liked this song. My dad got the cd when it first came out, and I was pretty young. He played it all the time, like, whenever I was in his truck. The Offspring was one of the first bands I was ever exposed to very much, so I've always been partial to it. It doesn't matter if they are pop or punk or sell-outs or stoners, I like the music and the band. |

The clearchannel list of banned songs is just a hoax. Clearchannel never released the list, it was some prankster with an e-mail. Probably a disgruntled employee that wanted to cast clearchannel in a bad light. |

| Sugar Ray – Personal Space Invader Lyrics
| 20 years ago

I think this song is about the man (authority) always being in the way, never leaving you alone, invading your space. Whether your parents, junior high principal, the cops, or the president, the man is trying to invade your space.
The background voice that says "remember how we taught you well" and stuff like that symbolizes the man. When he says "remember how we taught you well" I think he is refering to teachers and principals, who are usually a kids first authority figure after parents, and usually this authority figure is looked back on more negatively than other figures.
When he says "your playground is the gate to Hell" I think he is refering to drugs or masturbation. Some people find fun in those things, and the man usually tries to supress those things.
Maybe I'm reading too far into things, I don't know. When I first heard the song, I was pretty young and thought that it was about a stalker, invading Sugar Ray's personal space. I don't think that's it though. |
