Will Young – You & I Lyrics 20 years ago
Don't you have anything constructive to say, quiffporn, every song anyones left comments on Will Young songs you're there slagging everything off. Get a life.
And this song is amazing, whenever it's on I have to sing to it, like I don't understand your ways sometimes but you're an amazing person, I have people close to me like that

And opinions being constructive ones, and sharing what you think the song means (hence the site name, SONGMEANINGS) thought I'd add that.

Umm...right. Here I was thinking this was a site to share opinions on songs, not to purposefully seek out music you perhaps don't like and rip it to shreds. And really, what does Westlife have to do with this song and what does anything you're saying have to do with it either? Please, get a life.
Will Young's amazing, always has been

System of a Down – U-Fig Lyrics 20 years ago
Right, I know for a fact what I'm about to say isn't what the song was written about (because I saw it ages after Hypnotize was out) But I saw this Afternoon Play on TV (go me!) About this mother and her best friend and her son with Aspergers. The mother and her best friend cleaning up the mess chavs had left everywhere where they lived and then (randomly but whatever) The Queen went over and everyone put in their best efforts to clean up. Only when a member of authority came did anyone actually give a shit. To see all those pathetic fake uncaring people waving those flags just reminded me of this song. : )

Alanis Morissette – Princes Familiar Lyrics 20 years ago
Well, I think the last word is "father". I never looked at the song like Suha did, but that's a great way of looking at it. I look at it like asking the father to be these things so the girl can know that's what to look for in a lover, and the last two lines make me think of the princess writing in her diary about what she wants her lover to be like and breaks off at "just like my.." when she realises she has the "perfect father" That's my view! :)

Alanis Morissette – Pollyanna Flower Lyrics 20 years ago
To me this shows the two different sides of any person, some revel more in one than the other. Violence and letting it slide. I can understand this song because when I so desperately want to curse/slap someone who's getting me on the end of my tether, I know I can't. And it's frantic.
That's what this song means to me.

Alanis Morissette – Heart Of The House Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with Nietzsche, and that line moved me too. This whole song makes me picture Alanis sitting on her bed with a photo album, smiling yet woeful about what she can remember of her childhood and how her mother was. "We left the men and we went for a walk in the gatineaus" That has a very feminist feel to me, even if it wasn't intended, it's my favourite line. And at the end "Do you see yourself in my.." Makes me think of Alanis (or whoever the song may be about) viewing themselves and their ways and comparing them to what their mother used to do/be like. It's a beautiful song.

Alanis Morissette – Movement I: Mercy Lyrics 20 years ago
Wow, no comments. A truly beautiful song though, and Alanis said she was truly thankful to have sang on it. The lyrics are self explanatory I guess. Wonderful track.

I know he's blood but you can still turn him away you don't owe him anything!
What an intro and what a line. This song to me is almost like a breathless rant in song form about a relationship with someone that is enjoyed in the sense that you can talk about it like that but would never last in the long run. Truly awesome

Alanis Morissette – Awakening Americans Lyrics 20 years ago
Wow! This is the first time I've come across this song and it's so true! It's through and through Alanis. Also because I'm English it's always extra-interesting to read peoples opinions/views on different countries and learn more. Loving this song.

Alanis Morissette – Can't Not Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with Buddah Of Suburbia (loving the name by the way) Supposed Former has so much culture and meaning behind it, as her others do but this is somewhat rich in it.
This song to me makes me picture Alanis (like quite a few of the songs do) and she's defensive "would I be letting you in" and then worrying "how would I explain" leading to sneering (only in my vision, mind) at the unknowing children. Because they ask so many questions, and don't know what others have been through. That's what I see anyway :)
