Also, going back to what chika9040 was saying, if you take the love aspect out of it, you could definately read this song as a social comment. The very first time I heard this song I thought it was about war and fighting war (combat, come back). I think especially 'faux punk fatigue' is a quite a telling line. People can "fight" for a cause but its often meaningless. Voter apathy, lack of political conciousness seems to come through quite a bit. But I actually LIKE it when you can look at a song in two ways. It gives it depth. |

| I always wondered whether "Every mighty mild seventies child, Beats me" was just a reference to the man shes talking about in the song. I believe Emily was born in the 70s- you could assume this guy was too- and so the reference could simply just be to that. And the whole 'beats me' thing would fit in with the rest of the song about having someone to fight (ie combat baby). | |

I also think that this song could be about the Daisy Chainsaw years. Especially the line "If I find the perfect line, my sickness might desert me". In Daisy Chainsaw she didn't do any of the writing and in interviews she has voiced the frustrations she felt at this. I wonder whether that is a reference to not being able to write for the band. |

I think this song is about sex... BDSM perhaps?! you kind of pick up the sexual innuendos just by the way it is sung- kinda playfully. |
