| Bright Eyes – When the President Talks to God Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| My buddy got this on a free vinyl with Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and I'm Wide Awake it's morning on the release date back in 2005, and I wound up keeping it. I'm not really a Bright Eyes fan but this is a pretty solid track, and it caught my attention. | |

Lowell is my hometown, and quite honestly I'm pretty sure all these interpretations are skewed at best. First off, the thing about FM signals frmo Boston not reaching here? not true at all. WAAF...WBCN...just about every radio station you can receive in Lowell(except WUML, of course from U Mass Lowell which is the only radio worth listening to) comes from boston or manchester. Second, I lived in Dracut for 12 years between stints of living in Lowell (I'm at UML now) and I'll tell you, Dracut's a far sadder town than Lowell. Lowell is doing a fairly decent job at a second comeback. Let's hope it works this time... Also, having done quite a bit of study in Kerouac and general Beat literature... ylimemi, yes Kerouac left Lowell in favor of a life as a holy bum, as is fairly well communicated in Maggie Cassidy, but I would argue that he could never leave Lowell because it was about 80% of who he was, ultimately. And this lyric really doesn't make me think of Lowell at all, except "skyscrapers crumbling," which reminded me of when they knocked down the Saab Tower, but they're building an apartment highrise there now... |

funny about the "I've seen this happen..." lines, they did the same thing with Catacombs too, and cedric also said "and that joke isn't funny anymore" |

| The Mars Volta – Frances The Mute Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I've always thought that Frances was the widow. Cygnus' mom. L'via is the prostitute: just look at L'Via L'Viaquez. | |

EXCELLENT post, tremulant. also I would argue that FTM, the single, includes the following revelation: Cygnus had sex with his sister L'Via, unknowingly because she didn't look like she should ("blond underneath a blackened hair", perhaps he'd seen a picture one time and that was all he knew of her? I have no idea...), and when he found out he killed her: consider: You’ll never find her body now Her closet festered in a secret air (clearly a murder) Blonde underneath a blackened hair (she had changed her appearence) He never knew the colony Gestated in his bed Mingle with the carnivores you’ve something both in common now (They were family, and he never knew until it was too late) Till one day his wasted breath Swollen throat and karma debt (he had to atone for his incest) Set foot inside a parlor, to find her drunken by receipts He held her by the ankles Gutted at the nave, yes gutted and depraves He tied a rope around her legs And let her hang for seven days (uhhh YEAH, definitely killed her.) |

yeah, seigabata, no... A Missing Chromosome Walks.... this is my favorite line in the song... I would say it denotes a sense of loss and isolation, as in not being as evolved/complete as everyone else.... Needless to say, Cerpin would feel this way. See I always thought this was released on a seperate compilation cd, never thought of it as being part of DitC in any way, but that adds a very interesting dynamic to it... |
