Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics 20 years ago
jimthedragon, I agree with you completely, and I think I can help you when you seemed confused on the sinking feeling part.
You said:
‘Sinking, feeling’ has a duality in meaning because whilst it is written as ‘Sinking, feeling’ within the song you can’t hear the comma so it could also be heard as ‘sinking feeling’
‘Sinking, Feeling’ –implies that the writer feels like she is slowly falling, the indication is into depression’ as she can’t define her reality – hence ‘sinking , feeling’
on the other hand if we define it as ‘sinking feeling’ it is simply that the writer is falling into depression, as the listener we must ask ourselves why?

I think that if you listen to the pitch of the music, sinking and feeling are the same. To me this would indicate that they are common in the sense that they were both meant to be verbs. This would mean that your second suggestion is true; that the writer is falling into depression.

This song is so incredible. The lyrics are mysterious and can be interpreted in many ways, just like others have demonstrated. I have an unmentioned idea to contribute, but I need to think it through before I decide whether or not it would actually work.
