| Five for Fighting – Easy Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |

the two dimes in a telephone could also be about him trying to get up the courage to put that nickel in the phone in and make the call that his girlfriend needs I like the shotgun idea, I guess it could be a dual meaning oh well, great song, fun to play on the guitar |

| Talking Heads – Burning Down the House Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| y'know, I've always seen this as a song about a guy who lost all his money one way or another, and to collect his insurance, he burns down the house. Yeah, that's not what it is, but I'm gunna keep thinking that | |
| Talking Heads – Don't Worry About The Government Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song seems to be from the POV of a presidential candiate who wins and becomes president, I started thinking this and all the lyrics fit | |
| Talking Heads – Psycho Killer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, first off, this song/the Talking Heads are classified as "New-Wave" which itself is a genre of artists who were classified as punk, but not everybody agreed with it because their sound wasn't hard enough, hence the birth of New-Wave, but again, who cares? Anyway, the french is accurate, I'm taking french immersion at the moment (I'm Canadian, so I'm right, you're not :D ) , and it looks fine to me And I never even bothered to try and apply this to a certain serial killer, I always thought it was kind of a commentary on scitzofrenia and how it can cause people to behave irrationaly. Love this song, I'm trying to find some talking heads c.ds, but it's hard, maybe I'll get some Vinyl.. |

| Broken Social Scene – Late Nineties Bedroom Rock for the Missionaries Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Nope, 'cording to Amazon (I don't own the c.d, I'll get it eventually...) it's ninties. And I see it as it's own song, I think it stands out from Cause=Time because this has a much grittier feel while Cause=Time feels much more smooth, in my opinon |

| Unless the official soundtrack is wrong, the name of the song is Hot Patootie-Bless My Soul | |
| Metric – Poster of a Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Sinstone, "On new peut pas favriquer la verite" can also mean "We can not creat the truth", just thought I'd add that | |
| Metric – Glass Ceiling Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Yeah, the feminism thing works for me, but I think there's another meaning. In the book/movies Charlie/Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, in one of the last scenes, Charlie and Willy are in the glass elevator, preparing to go straight through the ceiling, also made of glass. They're not sure that they'll make it, but they, indeed do. Sending shards of glass everywhere. They soar above the building, among the clouds, looking at the village below. To me this song is sort of the polar opposite, while the men blasted through, the women are left struggling, crawling while the men soar. The men are free to fly while the women are trapped. |

I always assosiated this song with Neil Young, it's kind of his singing style, and it does mention "the crazy loner" a la "the Loner" by Neil Young is there any other connections that I havn't picked up on? |

| The Decemberists – The Mariner's Revenge Song Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Wow...this song is...wow. Amazing, I love hearing it, especially the chilling female-sung lyrics. "Find him, bind him Tie him to a pole and break His fingers to splinters Drag him to a hole until he Wakes up naked Clawing at the ceiling Of his grave" *shudder* |

| The Decemberists – We Both Go Down Together Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Ok, does nobody else notice the similarities to Romeo and Juliet? I dunno if the song is acctually about that play, but here's what it means to me... "I come from wealth and beauty Untouched by work or duty" Romeo was a prince "And oh, my love, my love And oh, my love, my love We both go down together" Romeo and Juliet were a case of forbidden love and the only way they could be together, is by dying together. "I laid you down on the grass of a clearing You wept but your soul was willing" I havn't acctually seen Romeo & Juliet, but I know that Romeo posined himself, and Juliet, kissing his lips, died from poison too. when this line is sung, I imagine Juliet and Romeo lying down on a feild, dying from the poison "And my parents will never consent to this love But I hold your hand" Romeo&Juliet's parents would not let them be together "Meet me on my vast veranda My sweet untouched Miranda And while the seagulls are crying We fall but our souls are flying" Romeo & Juliet met on her balcony, that scene always comes to mind when I hear this (I know they didn't fall off it, but I imagine them falling) That's what I choose to think, I know there's alot of discrepencies, but I like it like that |

| Ok, just because there's no....word....dosn't mean it dosn't have a meaning! I think the title gives it away, it's from the pespective of a missionary, probably in some uncivlized country, and he just listenings to this song while he lays in bed. I know that I've done that, it's an abslutly amazing experience, I reccomend it (not the missionary thing, the bed thing) | |

| Metric – Too Little Too Late Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Yes, it can be taken sexualy (alot of their songs can be, really..) but it can also be taken religiously "tie my right hand to the bible" I think it's saying we're kind of forced into religion, being force fed spirituality |

| Metric – Rock Me Now Lyrics | 20 years ago |

No comments?! You scallywags! "When she was seven years old she saw a man get shot but, No one came for a long time because It happened in a remote parking lot in Las Vegas And she was waiting for her mom to come back From working the black-jack table at the Circus-Circus casino And that night her mom said the two of them and the now dead guy Were the only three people that ever really lived in Las Vegas Everybody else just arrived, Ate their complementary shrimp cocktail, and left. " most probably one of the most amazing lines ever, great song, incredible lyrics, AMAZING BAND anybody care to give their interpretation? I don't have one, and I don't want one, I just love the song, simple as that |

| Metric – IOU Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| And if you want to go a bit deeper, the "multiply, divide" part could be comparing humains/humain society to cells, they just multiply and divide, simple as that. | |
| Metric – Poster of a Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Ok, straight from the horse's mouth, Metric. On their site they are looking for extras for their next video (Poster of a Girl, yay!) and they put this: Poster of a Girl, the latest video for Metric, is a psychological thriller set in an after-hours voyeuristic night club. There ya go, quite interessting, n'est pas? By the way, the french part is just the english part, translated. Case you're wondering |

| The Tragically Hip – Scared Lyrics | 20 years ago |

It's also possible that this is from the perspective of a Vetran, going to the schools, talking to kids. Also, the beach part could be about DDay, where the troops rushed the shores of Europe |

| The Tragically Hip – It's a Good Life If You Don't Weaken Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I love this so too, so beautifully artistic.. But I should add it's "It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken" (Inluding the quotation marks) I got Hipenonymous for Christmas, and that's what it's listed as. So maybe it's something that somebody told Gordie before, and he wrote a song about it |

| Metric – The Police and the Private Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Woah, slow down there cowboy. I think it's acctually about selling drugs, she's in the subway, looking for somewhere or someone, and she talks about never knowing who you're working for. By this she means that there is alot of drug users, so police, some privates, some pirates (I don't know how many pirates take drugs...) like when she says... "keep one eye on the bag" maybe because she dosn't want her drugs discovered "The whole world wants what we're on" that one is kind of obvious... "My friend is coming clean, she told me" her friend is kicking the habit... alright, that's what I think, sounds abour right to me, of course, everbody thinks thier's is the right one. |
