i just took that avant-garde film class at UMass with the professor who this song is apparently about. the term debaser isn't referring to someone who bring somethgin down to nothing, but more someone revealing. the professor has a reputation for giving away important scenes and endings to the films we watch in his class. i heard from the TA of the class that this song is a tribute to the professor from the singer (apparently he had the same class in his UMass stint), of course with Dali and Brunel's "Un Chien Andalou" being one of the more noteable films we watched from surrealists. It's rumored if not known for sure to be about the teacher. |
