The Twilight Singers – Teenage Wristband Lyrics 17 years ago
I've always thought this was about the singer (Dulli himself, or maybe just a persona) reliving or remembering being young. The 'teenage wristband' is something that reminds him of the girl or incident, it could scars, or track marks or anything I guess.

The Fiery Furnaces – Tropical Iceland Lyrics 18 years ago
To teiladnam I think they mean marijuana is just very hard to come by in Iceland. I don't know for sure but its probably hard to grow there and there probably isn't a lot smuggled in either, not a big enough population to support the cost.

Manic Street Preachers – Born To End Lyrics 18 years ago
Probably not about post communist eastern europe as the this song was written so soon after the USSR and the Soviet Block were disolved. More likely about the futility/emptiness of a consumer culture.

Screaming Trees – Nearly Lost You Lyrics 18 years ago
Its about addiction, his own and someone else, losing them to addiction. Considering the Seattle scene its almost certaintly about heroin.

Christian Death – Romeo's Distress Lyrics 18 years ago
Something to do with religion, christianity (the 'conversation about the holes in your hands' line is about Jesus I think) but its not too clear. Also seems to be about paranoia, 'what's that moving in the basement' and sex (the final lines).

I'm think it could be about drug addiction and prostitution, but its only a guess really.

Urge Overkill – The Mistake Lyrics 18 years ago
This song's about the temptation to turn to not just drugs, but specifically heroin (the dragon) when the band is touring playing gigs and just not making it big. Though lonliness and dissapointment mount blotting it all out with heroin isn't worth it because deep inside there is something good, the catchy song stuck in the soul.

Manic Street Preachers – Nat West-Barclays-Midlands-Lloyds Lyrics 18 years ago
Not entirely sure about the meaning of all the lyrics but partly at least they seem to be against the banks controlling or manipulating people through credit. Getting people hooked on consumerism and drawing them into an endless cycle of debt ect.
