| Muse – Unintended Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I first heard Unintended whilst on a roadtrip. I found it to be so amazing because that's kind of what you feel like when you really love and care for someone. It's worse when the love is forbidden but it really grew on me over the years. At first i didn't really understand what he meant by 'you could be my unintended choice to live my life extended'. After thinking about it for a long time this was what the song meant for me: The narrator as we all know finds someone whom he deeply and truly loves. However he had previous bad experiences with another girl. That's why his outlook on love soured and became negative. He feels scared because he realises that he is beginning to love her but is reminded of what happened before. Hence he needs to fix up his life and prepare himself to love again. I tend to agree with the post that suggested he might've wanted to end his life, because he felt so miserable and depressed after the bad experience that there was nothing left for him in life. Then, unknowingly, he fell for the girl and if it wasn't for her, he might've killed himself. Hence she saved him from his depressive suicidal thoughts and became his 'unintended choice to live his life extended.' I was a bit surprised because it's different from other Muse songs i've heard. But i love this song because it sounds so genuinely heartfelt. I think that's important - not holding back. |

| Keane – Snowed Under Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Being snowed under must be a terrible feeling. When you feel that you've been treated badly you might think that you can't dig your way out of your unhappiness. But after many years the person has finally woken up, or 'opened my eyes' to realise that you don't have to do this to yourself, because the world is full of beautiful things and life is too short to be wasted on being unhappy. The other person wants someone to 'understand their hopes and fears,' but in the process they might've been blind to other people's feelings, or they could've taken out their frustrations on the singer even though the singer has beared with it for many years. Happiness doesn't come to you automatically but if it does you are blessed. If you can't find it in one place then seek it elsewhere, and if you stay positive you will find it =) |

| Keane – The Way You Want It Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Beautiful song, because it's about people's conscience. Even though you might be in a different place, doing different things and living a totally different life, you can't escape what you've done wrong in the past if don't face up to it and take full responsibility. The person might think they've steered clear of their previous mistakes by running away, but thoughts come back to haunt them and they begin to miss the good things, such as her love. So what does this life of 'horrid feelings' compare to the once-happy memories which he now yearns for? As unhappy as he is, he feels that he deserves it, because he hasn't really escaped from the past at all, no matter how he tries. And he knows that she knows, which means life now is even more wretched. He almost welcomes his depressive thoughts because trying not to think about it will drive him crazier. |

| Keane – On a Day Like Today Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| One of Keane's best songs so far. I think with someone you love it's easy to be stuck for words when you're trying to talk about something serious. You can't be sure if the things you're thinking come out the way you want it to in words, or any words at all. The most important things in life are the hardest to say, because words diminish them. | |
| Keane – This Is the Last Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
When i heard the song the first couple of times it sounded sad and you tend to feel sorry for the guy. But during the sad interval, there appears to be occasional sparks of dazzling amnesia, anger and resignation all rolled into one. 1. Amnesia Perhaps he has selective memory loss? hence 'something i wasn't sure of, but i was in the middle of, something i forget now.' Or that he is in self-denial and doesn't want to remember. However, he does recall 'the first time' and subsequent re-offence, although he isn't really sure of what it is exactly... 2. Anger This seeing-all and hearing-all guy is no longer forgiving-all. Although he says he's 'tried and tried' he is probably sick and tired of his patience being taken for granted, or that he doesn't want to keep saving something that doesn't appreciate him in turn. 'This is the last time' rings of finality, but like previous posts it could actually mean he's desperately willing himself to believe that this is, indeed, the last time. Poor guy. 3. Resignation Does he really not mind being taken for granted and treaded over? I think he does, but either he's too into the person (or relationship) or that he's drawing up a mental threshold for any reoffence. I think he also feels used but can't do anything about it, which is frustrating. But from the words you can tell that this guy has been patient - or so he thought he was - so if the reoffender does their thing again this guy might finally snap (and.. who knows, turn into a psycho? it's possible, if he already has the self-delusional qualities. or he might just break down entirely) So despite the love/hate/sickandtiredness, he feels mentally trapped. Hey maybe after singing this song he feels better cos singing relieves stress. Ah.. another great song from Keane ;) |
