Well, I'm sure you are all spot on with the Fiery Furnaces reference, it is quite obvious when he is asked about the relationship that he doesn't want to let anything out. Alrighty. This song is amazing, of course. It is about a character in a schoolbook that way back when one of Nick's classmates had a particular disliking to.

Definately some sort of reflection here... Not very clear really. Always thought it was the singer trying to comfort the girl, but really fuzzy. Bloody brilliant song though. |

Well, I first saw them at an FF concert too. Small world. They really did a great thing for this small band.
OK. This song is pretty straightforward to me. Its in first person this guy (Dan I would imagine) is in love with this girl, who seemms to be unreachable, although he has this notion that she feels the same. The irony is he cant find out whether or not she does, he cannot get a hold of her. Poor, poor Dan... |
