| I first heard this song on the radio driving home after seeing a friend in the hospital. He had crashed his dirtbike and broken his neck. He is still alive today but he still may never move his body again. At the time though it felt like we could actually loose him. When I heard these lyrics I lost it and had to pull over and just cry. I still can't make it all the way through the song without tearing up. It's so powerful. I still can't get over how freaky it was to hear this song at that exact moment when it would mean the most. | |

this song made me cry when i 1st heard it, i can relate 2 every word they are saying. my old best friend loved me and i couldnt love him back for fear of breakin the friendship. we nvr talk anymore. i miss him so much i wish i could make him listen 2 this song. but about the songs meaning they had this posted on their myspace, i kno it could b fake but hey, it sounds right : Success is clear from the first single from Foiled, “Hate Me,” a song that recalls such aching rock anthems as Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” or Jane’s Addiction’s “Jane Says” for songwriter Justin Furstenfeld’s unflinching look at his own illness, which caused him to be committed to a mental hospital back on that fateful Blue October day back in 1997. “It’s a song about a relationship gone badly,” he explains calmly. “It’s about being a selfish little prick in a rock band, and just being demolished by that realization.” |
