Bird York – In the Deep Lyrics 20 years ago
nobody has said what their interpretation of the song means to them.

to put it in lamest terms--i think it means that no matter how hard life hits you, you need to keep your chin high and make good descisions.

Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics 20 years ago
Although Fadingreflection's thought was very reasonable and unique, it was a bit skeptical as well. Here's what I think. I'm going to be very in depth...

This song is amazing. It really inspires me that even though I am a guy, the stereotypes of society have graced us with their presence for hundreds of years and screamed "Men shouldn't cry!" This is what I love about this song. He ensures us that everything will be alright even if you're the highschool jock or the school loser. You're probably thinking "What the fuck does this have to do with that stereotype?" Here's the thing. Conor tells us that no matter who you are, it's okay to cry. It's okay because everybody goes through love and the life long dilemmas and problems. Everybody has to cry and feel sad and all that jazz. He's saying, "It's alright. If no me, someone else who loves you will protect you."

Secondly, he is telling us that everything will be alright. Conor is belting out "IT WILL BE ALRIGHT! TRUST ME! IT WILL!" Almost as if he's some sort of God he knows and can promise us it will be alright. If it ranges from a papercut to the death of a child, you can live through it. And to cross-reference to before--somebody will be there for you, stranger or mate.

This is a point I feel very strongly about. My favorite favorite line in this song is, "There was a loophole in my dreaming, so I got out of it." It is taken for granted. I think he's saying that he, like everybody else, is dreaming of what needs to happen and what good has to come out of everything and the flawless effects of our actions that we long to have, which is the bowl of oranges.

But that's what I think.
