So much... I get things out of Neil Young songs that i doubt he meant to put there, but isn't that what makes great artists great?? My favorite line... "Me I'm not stopping there [hotel of lost companions] got my own row left to hoe... Just another line in the field of time.." ...awesome! |

me and my friend wrote a song called "Amiga", which was referencing this song and the Thunderbird... Quetzacoatl.. all that stuff... apparently Neil knew a guy who was into all of that... the story goes that at the end times the giant thunderbird would swoop down and carry away the "chosen ones".... |

...yeah, and it's basically SY's take on the hypocricy of the recording industry, exemplified by Mariah Carey's huge deal, which was terminated when her first album under that deal didn't sell 400,000 copies... also I think in the fifth line or so, it's supposed to say "they say you can't say no to Promo..." |

I am not positive but I think Thurston wrote this riding in a car/bus(?) and he looked over and noticed a "Western Star" truck ...and it just kinda wrote itself... I will have to ask Thurston next time I see him...haha |

This song is a reference to William Gibson's latest book by the same name... In this novel, Cayce Pollard is a "cool-hunter" hired by various corporations to sniff out the latest trends... "The Sprawl", an earlier Sonic Youth song on Daydream Nation, was inspired by Gibson's master work "Neuromancer" |
