Roland was the name of Steve Albini's drum machine.
Which I'm sure has nothing to do with this song. But maybe. |

I left out a lot of details in that comment that I could have mentioned, but if you want to be able to understand even a little bit of this song, you should definitely go to the site JeffKaos mentioned, as it paraphrases the lengthy story. I definitely reccomend taking the time out to read the entire text, which is absolutely beautiful, funny, and smart. A good modern version can be found here:

The song is even more amazing once you understand it. :) |

Okay so here's what I get and don't get from this song. I would love to have someone help me with this and maybe fill in the blanks where I'm wrong.
In Part I, there's the scene of the provocative Queen Medb and her husband Ailill disputing over who is the richest, and then she schemes to steal a bull from Ulster so their riches will match.
Then theres Part II of the song, which I believe has something to do with the foretelling of Fer Diad being slain by Cú Chulainn with the gáe bolga, since that was the only thing that could pierce through his hard skin ('I will bleed your heart through a samovar soon'), but the lyric is strange to me since a samovar is a metal urn used for making tea.?
Part III seems to be the actual battle between best friends Cú Chulainn and Fer Diad, which was both a physical and emotional mess, taking three days until finally Fer Diad is killed and Cú Chulainn feels horrible for killing his foster brother and best friend. He puts his arms around him, carries him, and lays him down peacefully.
So that's what I've gotten from it. I'm no scholar or anything, but I thought that might help someone trying to understand it. As for parts IV and V, I don't exactly understand them, but I hope one of you does and helps to enlighten me. :)
And sorry for leaving such a long post. I worked awhile on it. |

Well I just heard the PG version a few minutes ago. Needless to say I can taste the puke rising in the back of my throat. It honestly made me sick. ewwww.
I agree with spokexx on this one. No one but Stephin Merritt and a ukelele should even touch this one. |

I heard Mr. Molina gets angry if you request him to play this at his shows. Does anyone know anything about this? |
