KoЯn – Word Up (Cameo cover) Lyrics 20 years ago
I suppose it's more a personal opinion than anything else regarding whether or not they have sold out.

That's very true about the CD's/publicity correlation.
Have you any idea why they did a cover of this particular song?I never bothered to research it.
Do you remember that Fieldy's Dreams album?Could it be that the other band members are contributing more to the actual genre of the music or are they just assimilating to a larger fan base?

They still get publicity.Publicity leads to more money for KoRn.I still think they're really great guys but I don't respect their music anymore and I just feel like there was a time when their fans were more important.

They're broadening their music? Why do you suppose that is?
Their music gets progressively different in each album [and progressively closer to more money.Since they're in the industry they know that rap etc is more successful than nu metal].They're so much more mainstream now.I've heard that Word Up song on several different T.V shows and etc. Weren't they originally on a mission to deliver young angst ridden teens some music they could relate to?How many can listen to Word Up or Y'all Want a Single and say they can relate to that?Personally, I believe there are more important issues at hand [ie. child abuse, bullying etc.].Seems they've forgotten that.Perhaps I'm just bitter because growing up I thought these guys were great for telling it like it is and not worrying about what the majority wants to hear.My mistake!

Personally, I hate this song.
I used to worship KoRn [no joke].Even though I thought Take A Look In The Mirror wasn't that great, I bought the album anyway in the hopes that the next album would be better.
Haha, no.
However, this is only my opinion but I think KoRn have really sold themselves out. They have for a long time but I figure that comes with the fame. But this was certainly a strange move. They had almost completely changed the genre of their music.I agree that after 10 years we change but in 10 years I've changed too and I still write lyrics that correlate with the ones I've written years ago.In 10 years they haven't created a whole new fan base. The ones listening back in '94 were more often than not the same ones that were disappointed when the new single came out.Not everyone. But many of them.
And though I hate this song [their whole new album infact] and I refuse to buy or listen to their music again, I think they're really nice guys [from what I've gathered with my years of being a loyal fan] and I wish them the best.

VNV Nation – Joy Lyrics 20 years ago
Personally, I think the song is about lonliness/discrimination.
People are treating him like he's subhuman or something. He feels alone, betrayed and etc. which is why he's questioning whether or not he should continue to love others and even questioning whether or not all these people who discriminate against him are right and that he's perhaps a freak of some sort and shouldn't be treated as an equal in society.

VNV Nation – Voice Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it's about God as well.
Different religions [We are not the same=different gods].
"I am just one voice" could mean that though people worship different dieties, we're all worshipping for the same reason.
"I am not your god"....hmmm...maybe that means we're all worshipping different gods and we're not all worshipping the "right" one.
The lyrics are simple. The meaning...not so much lol.

I think the song is about selling out.I'm particularly reminded of Nu Metal bands [IE. KoRn].
"you think you're evil but you're not"-Nu Metal=not true metal but trying to live up to the true metal stereotype of being "evil".
The rest of the song is fairly self explainatory if you're on the same page as I am.
Great song!
