The Hoosiers – Goodbye Mr A Lyrics 17 years ago
Can someone update this lyric, please?
>>It’s not any more
Should be "It's not adding up", which is logical, lol.

Great song, though. Interesting lyric. It does copy the ELO production style VERY closely, right down to the snappy drumbeats and percussive piano strikes, but I don't think it steals from the song Mr Blue Sky specifically, which I've seen quite a lot written about.

The White Stripes – You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told) Lyrics 17 years ago
I was reminded of the screechy guitar solo at the end of Roxy Music's "Out of the Blue". It's something you don't expect to succeed, but it does, somehow.

Franz Ferdinand – Lynsey Wells Lyrics 19 years ago
Great sing-along song, should go over well in pubs on karaoke night (even though I'm still waiting for "Walk Away" to appear on the lists).

If you listen closely, it seems as though Lynsey's happiness is a cover for something very, very dark. The video was a fantastic match for this song, and everyone gets a big thumbs-up on this one.

Franz Ferdinand – Sorry Angel Lyrics 19 years ago
I really like this track, a lot of energy and a great performance by everyone. Alex's voice is very emotive here, a great touch on a song about a lover's suicide. And yes, the lyric seems correct. Does anyone know who wrote this song?

Franz Ferdinand – You're The Reason I'm Leaving Lyrics 20 years ago
I liked the reference to R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts", the song that has supposedly prevented hundreds of people from offing themselves in horrible ways. To juxtapose the image of him pleasantly driving in his car, hearing that song, then fighting the urge to cry and lashing out is brilliant.

Also, the ambiguity of exactly who is leaving who here is great (I'm the reason you're leaving / no, you're the reason I'm leaving) Nothing like a nice song about a mutually-self-destructive relationship to get your blood pumping in the morning :)

Franz Ferdinand – Well, That Was Easy Lyrics 20 years ago
I can make sense out of pretty much everything else on the album, but this verse in this song, remains a mystery. Yes, they created a disgusting image, but what was the point? Was he leaving her because she was mentally/emotionally challenged in some way? Is he intimating that this was some sort of seriously sick relationship? I just think it broke the flow of the album, in a very unpleasant way.

Franz Ferdinand – Walk Away Lyrics 20 years ago
The song is from the perspective of someone who is being left by their partner. He is allowing the relationship to end by not acknowledging any guilt, and by basically not doing anything to prevent the end, although he clearly was the abusive element in the relationship. He stands firm in his denial to her, acts tough, and once she is gone, mourns the loss. The "Stalin Smiles, and Hitler Laughs" ending is his acknowledgement that this was a horrible thing to let happen, and echoes how alone he is. What a great song.

Franz Ferdinand – Well, That Was Easy Lyrics 20 years ago
The "clean the filth off your phone dial" part is the clumsiest verse on the entire album. Wish they'd spent a bit more time working on this, as it's one of the very few flaws this record has.
