| Cold War Kids – Cryptomnesia Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Nathan might not have known it, but what he was doing when he listened to his old song and made a new one from the lyrics is English-to-English homophonic translation, where you translate based on what the word sounds like, not what it means. It's not easy, and it worked out really well for this song. | |
| As Tall as Lions – Blacked Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |

it's not "sometimes we need love to hold on" i think the lyric is "sometimes we need love, but don't want" |
| Bright Eyes – Poison Oak Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't think the line "And you wrote bad checks just to fill your arm" is necessarily a heroin addiction reference no one writes checks to their drug dealer I thought of it like this: if the kid ran away from home, he had no money. But he still needed to eat. So he wrote checks at grocery stores to fill his arms with food, because by the time they bounced, he would be gone already. It's possible. |

| Cold War Kids – Sermons vs. the Gospel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
well first, these lyrics: "don't make no difference just watching from the stairs fat lady always claps her hands" should be: "Don't make no difference who's watching from the stands, Fat lady always claps her hands" and the way I see it, those lines pretty much mean that it doesn't really matter if someone's watching you, if there is a God, because everyone dies anyway. It's an analogy in which life/death is compared to a show we put on ("fat lady" being the one to determine when the show is over, as in "it ain't over till the fat lady sings") |

the end you have is wrong, it goes: Shelves of jewelry Mama’s dying her hair in the vanity Daddy’s watch too tight, Try silver spoon for size Harder than a needle through a camel’s eye Folks gather round The table, find their place |

| The Honorary Title – Cats In Heat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| question: where does "reconcile" come in? i never hear that word at the end of the song, i'm pretty sure it's not there. I always thought it was just "a worthless struggle to step back in" | |
| The Honorary Title – Cats In Heat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
agreed. it literally HURTS thats amazing, what an amazing voice. |
| Brand New – Fork and Knife Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm pretty sure the lyrics are: " Play tender till the night is over / I'm leaving you to nurse your cherished wound" rather than "Play tender to the night is over. I’m leaving you to nurture cherished wounds," that makes more sense, considering the pronoun (it) in the next line is singular. I can't be sure, but i think it might be "romantic palace" rather than "romantic pallet", i here an "s" sound Also, i think it's "a nameless ghost" rather than "an aimless ghost" the lyric "the closest thing we had to royalty" is absolutely right, there's no way it's "loyalty", there's an obvious "r" in the beginning of the word. Aside from that, the lyrics are right, and reverie is definitely a word. |
| Cold War Kids – Expensive Tastes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure it's "drink my weight in coffee" rather than "waiting coffee" | |
| Cold War Kids – Sermons vs. the Gospel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song sounds so much like a bob dylan song, its amazing | |
| Cold War Kids – Pregnant Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I dont think its slither to see i think its "slither deceit" that seems to make more sense, and i definitely hear a "d" sound |

| Brand New – ...My Nine Rides Shotgun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the first time its thoughts, the second times it's thighs. also, someone really needs to figure out the end, because its been killing me for years now. its not that zombie thing, thats so far off. in the first verse its also "hey you never know" |
| The Honorary Title – Far More Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the line that says "you cant take the way the way im gonna feel" is actually "well you cant dictate the way, the way im gonna feel" | |
| The Format – Dear Boy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
arthur lee is a member of the band Love, so psychadellic band from the seventies. my guess is, Nate admires Arthur Lee and implies that if he could see whats going on with the music industry now, he would be miserable. thats just my guess though |

| Brand New – You Won't Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i absolutely agree with Arter, it's what ive been saying also. don't rely on the lyrics booklet, because its not one hundred percent correct, we've all realized that. | |
| Brand New – Sowing Season (Yeah) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i like when people comment using words like "OBVIOUSLY" when they actually dont know anything for sure at all, by any means. songs change, like, lyrics are always changing. my guess is, as i've said before, the lyrics booklet went out before the songs were recorded, or had the original lyrics that were not the recorded lyrics. it wasnt necessarily on purpose, its just that music is constantly changing and evolving |
| Brand New – Not the Sun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its seriously not uncommon for the lyrics booklet to not have the same lyrics as the recorded tracks. the chances that the lyrics went to the printer or whatever before they recorded and jesse just decided to change up the lyrics a little are pretty high, for all of these songs. cause there are absolutely parts that are in one and are not in the other, so just like, keep that in mind. |

| the actual event happened like two years ago, didnt it? | |
| The Classic Crime – All the Memories Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i think the lyric is "Be aware, the future meets the past" that makes more sense |
| The Format – Janet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
At the show i went to in october, Nate said this song is written for Janet Jackson. I dont know if he was serious, maybe some of the less sensical lines are allusions or something. any thoughts? |
| Brand New – Limousine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it has to be "tiny bone with holes" because theres no "t" for boat and theres a distinct "s" sound at the end. |
| The Classic Crime – Who Needs Air Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think we should all stop posting our thoughts on lyrics as though we wrote the song. it would be much more humble and much less pompous to say something like "i think the song is about..." because otherwise, we tend to sound very full of ourselves, and only those who have personally talked to the artists can really know for sure what the song is about. keep that in mind. on that note, i think the song is simply about life, and being content with it. |
| Brand New – Coca-Cola Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i feel like its not "poison" in the chorus, but i cant figure out what it sounds like :-/ |
| The Format – Dead End Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's "there is never enough" not "there is never a note" and change this: you guess i wrote something profound, something like "our love will last till we die" i say "you're good at this game" but what i really wrote is, "How i've yet to be saved" |
| The Format – Inches and Falling Lyrics | 19 years ago |
now i wish those photographs could convince you that what we had Would only turn out a negative well well well IF fingertips are relationships then i could barely carry your weight. IF fingers are mistakes, don't lose this one to point the blame. also, at the the end, it says "we'll last until the end" not "we'll last a month" |
| Brand New – Limousine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is, i think, a lot about God, like most of the songs on this album are. i think the significance of the number seven is either the seven deadly sins, or the seven days God spent creating the earth. Also, the second verse is like "and in the choir i saw a sad messiah, He was bored and tired of my laments said, 'id die for you one time but never again, never again'" I think this song reflects a feeling that God has given up, because that verse basically says that Jesus was sick of caring for him, and wouldnt sacrifice himself again if he had the chance. |
| The Format – If Work Permits Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i dont get anything about cheating in here, i think its about bad memories, realizing what you have, and moving on. the point of the verse about the boy and the telephone is that he probably knew someone who has a warped perception of love after having an abusive father, and Nate is trying to say that love isnt like that, that it's something great. my opinion, anyway. |

| The Format – Wind That Blows Lyrics | 19 years ago |
try again! So the wind that blows across your room Carried cheap perfume onto your dresser It rained for jewelrey and for credit cards Two tickets to a film I don’t remember Oh, one day you’ll kiss your rabbit's nose Pick up the phone to find I’ve been turned over You’ll grab that piece of gold Only to find that the smell has taken over Now all the things you have They aren’t the same as what you hold thats actually right, this time |
| Brand New – Untitled Lyrics | 19 years ago |
there are two different things said in the song. Assuming the lyric is "i could never love her", it's repeated like: "I can never love her I can never love her I can never love her I could never love (somethingelsegoeshere)" i wish it were audible :( but this song is so eerie!! |
