| Trophy Scars – Botanicas Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yeah, it's really a "listen all the way through" type of thing. all of the songs are pretty intertwined... but that's typical trophy scars for you. this is probably one of my favorite songs from the album. i have a feeling ana lucia is a huuuuge part of it, just like liz was on alphabet. alphabets. |

| Hot Cross – Finger Redux Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it's a shame, isn't it? the way these hours spin out of control, and how the tighter your grip on the why and the how insures a faster demise to a here and a now. fucking amazing. my favorite thing about hot cross is how direct the lyrics are. yeah, there are metaphors, but those metaphors are easily discerned in the context of the song. i love probing for meaning in song lyrics, but i love how i don't even have to bother with this band. it's all point-blank. |

| Hot Cross – Putting The Past Right Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| The Comeback Kid – Bright Lights Keep Shining Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| No Trigger – Tundra Kids Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| fucking sick. | |
| Kiss Kiss – Shits in Suits Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Holy SHIT. This song is so fucking good. It's just spastic and crazy... and it just makes you want to get up and dance. The ending and how it flows right into the filler track makes me shiver with delight. |

| I Have Dreams – Countless Rooftops Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this band. The vocals fit perfectly with the lyrical content. They're so... sorrowful. And rightfully so. I mean, the band was only created to mourn the death of their friend. It's beautiful. |

| Wolves – 7 Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Hey. Fuck you. I just copied them from the sheet I got. Either way, I edited it. Cry moar. |

| A Wilhelm Scream – Killing It Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Totally about trying to cope with fucked up memories and the suffering you've been through. Repressing the memories and killing yourself over the past will only prove you're the weaker one, that you're a slave to that which tries to bury you. It's amazing how many AWS songs relate to the concept of someone (or something) burying you under its weight. It makes you wonder how much the guys have all suffered... and how amazing they are for having dealt with it. This is coming from someone who has had to wade through a lot of shit. It's hard, but it's all about keeping it together. Otherwise, you're just proving to the world you're no more good than those who drag you down. |

| Chiodos – Bulls Have Horns Lyrics | 19 years ago |
at the end, after the phone beeping cuts out, he's screaming "Just give me one good reason why you?re still in love." This band used to be so amazing. Why did they have to go and change so much? Ugh. It depresses me when I go to their shows now because they're nowhere near as good as they used to be. Hell, their live show is so... bland now. Instead of the old energy they used to have (and the crowd as well), they're just standing about... and all of the scene kids in the front row just bob their heads. It pisses me off. |
| A Wilhelm Scream – Stab. Stab. Stab. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Probably my favorite AWS song. It's just so fucking epic. "Just because you're rotting, doesn't mean you're dead." So good. |
| Bear vs. Shark – MPS Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| MPS = Michigan Postal Service. Worst Postal Service in history. >_>; | |
| Sufjan Stevens – They Also Mourn Who Do Not Wear Black (For the Homeless in Muskegon) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The city's getting better. It's not the greatest place to live, but it was a lot worse before. Then again, it is losing everything that made it great. Downtown is terrible, now. It's just... ugly. |
| Folly – Broken. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The version on the new album is amazing. I absolutely loooove the "to hold" part. On the third time, he changes from yelling to screaming and it just sounds awesome. |
| The Khayembii Communique – The Des Moines Tapes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is fucking epic. | |
| The Lawrence Arms – Are You There, Margaret? It's Me, God. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song is correctly titled "Are You There Yet, Margaret? It's Me, God" Just missing the "yet." Such an excellent song. One of my favorite Larry Arms songs, right behind "The Dancing Machine" and "Cut It Up." Fucking great to sing along to. |
| Rosa – Scan to Print Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| So fucking great. I love singing/screaming along to this. | |
| Hot Cross – Two Cripples Dancing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song really brings meaning to the album as a whole. The first four songs are all chaotic... and then it breaks down into this instrumental (which I find to be much better than Frozen By Tragedy). And then it flows right into Consonants. Perfect example of Hot Cross' ability to blend aggression, melancholy, and emotion to create a unique sound. The song title's awesome as well. |
| Hot Cross – A Weekend Spent Askance Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Quite possibly the best of layered vocals by Hot Cross ever. Plus, the lyrics rule. "We can scream for sin or for days about what we lose and what we've won, but in the end you're only as good as what you've done." So fucking good. |
| Hot Cross – Pretty Picture of a Broken Face Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Hot Cross pulls off the layered vocals so well... And Billy is such an amazing lyricist. "Don't forget that when you cease to see things the way you want to, it's the least important people that come back to haunt you." Such an awesome line. The way Billy sings it and the words themselves... it sends chills down my spine. |
| 1905 – Can't Change Everything Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"An opinion changed by something you said. A lifestyle adjusted by what you suggested." That line is amaaaazing. Her voice seems so strained, yet so amazingly controlled that it blows me away. |
