I seem to recall that at the Seattle Jack's Mannequin show a while back, he mentioned that the first part of the song was inspired by a trip to Vegas with his friends. I think the meaning is quite literal. It about hanging out with your high school buddies, getting drunk, doing drugs and just being young. In my opinion there are definitely a few cocaine references in the song.
I think that the second part of the song has nothing to do with the first. Maybe Andrew just decided that he wanted to bridge these two songs together into one track. |

interesting take on the song atmablue, and it seems to make a lot of sense, but keep in mind that most (if not all) of these songs were written before he was diagnosed. In fact, Kill the Messenger was available for listening on the internet months before he was diagnosed. |
