Hey..that's what Brian said in an interview : "It's about child abuse, but not necessarily sexual abuse. It could be pyhsical or mental. When I sang the lyric it was just completely off the top of my head, and we never changed it. It just kind of stayed there because it captured a real atmosphere -- very sinister an creepy. It came to be about a young person very desperate to get out of a family environment situation for whatever reasons. It's a song that people can interpret in a hundred different ways." And I think that's really what you can hear in the song. The pain, the feeling to stick in a strange situation, not to be able to go on...to desperate...everything that is completely out of time...that's my opinion. |

@KendoKai ...very good idea ...I'd say you read a little too much between the lines ... :D BUT this song IS NOT about pregnancy. Brian said it by himself. Post blue is about addiction and also love. Another important point... this song was written during Sleeping with ghosts, so Brian's son Cody didn't really exisit that time...sorry ..but I thought you should know this. I agree with dylan in the movies ... blue is like sadness or just melancholy ... ..it's everywhere ... even between them ... maybe the water is a metapher for a thing you ingest every day, so you're addicted to it. Sorry for my late reaction, I was on holiday till yesterday. But I found the scene. Its when the first person who wants to move in shaved his hair. (Chapter 25; time : 1:26) Tyler says : "Like a monkey ready to be shot into space. Space monkey. Ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good." I don't think Brian means this in a positive way as well and that he finds himself used is an important point of view. AND Brian knows this film pretty well if you listened to the comments on the Once more with feeling dvd. I think all fits (concerning this two words an their meaning) A guestion at the end : What's "mesmer" ??? |
