Melissa Etheridge – Come To My Window Lyrics 20 years ago
Melissa has actually said several times that this song isn't about love. I don't understand what else it could be about- perhaps how badly she wanted fame at that point. But, from her autobiography, she wrote this song when she was in a repeat cycle of failed polygamous relationships, with a lover who was never quite as emotional as she was, so maybe she was wanting her to join her in that place.

Ani DiFranco – If It Isn't Her Lyrics 20 years ago
Ani has this great way of building layers and layers into her music, just whne she has you on one train of thought, she changes it. What a break from the predictable.

One thing that always throws me off of Ani's songs is that she's bi- so the pronouns change from song to song. Which can be kind of interrupting when you find men in your cherished lesbian music.

This song, however, is safe from that- hell, its got the lesbian John Wayne. Goddess bless Ani.

Ani DiFranco – Little Plastic Castle Lyrics 20 years ago
Ani is a Goddess ^_^, and this is a delightful song. My favorite part is: "i wish they could see us now/ in leather bras and rubber shorts/
like some ridiculous team uniform/ for some ridiculous new sport",
which made me laugh like crazy. I SO wanna play that sport.

Wow, a song about happy, content lesbians? Mon Dieu! I am impressed.

Ladytron – Playgirl Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about a girl trapped in a small town who's rapidly cutting through the population as a means of temporary escape. Not healthy, but easy to relate to, I think. Lots of us use sex as a way to "tune out".
