Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – The Great Communicator Lyrics 19 years ago
How could no one have commented on this by now? It's so catchy! I love it.

This is definitely one of, if not my favorite song of all time. It's just amazing.

Death Cab for Cutie – Song for Kelly Huckaby Lyrics 19 years ago
I was at a Death Cab show on August 11 of this year (in Berkeley) and they explained that that day was Ben's birthday, and that nine years earlier they had taken a road trip from Bellingham to San Francisco for Ben's 21st birthday, with, guess who, none other than Kelly Huckaby.

Rilo Kiley – Love and War (11/11/46) Lyrics 19 years ago
@ Rilo_Kiley77:

I've read the story (it was awesome) and I see the parallel that you've drawn here. I could ramble on and on about the story, but I'll restrain myself. I don't really have anything else to say...you analyzed it all already!

Death Cab for Cutie – Amputations Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that this song and Fake Frowns are related because if you listen starting at about 4:38, you start to hear the drumline of Fake Frowns. Also, Fake Frowns seems to be sort of similar to Amputations and Song for Kelly Huckaby, which are of course about Kelly Huckaby.

John Vanderslice – Me And My 424 Lyrics 20 years ago
Marcel Duchamp was a French-American artist who was born in the late 1800's and died in 1968. His works were considered offbeat and scandalous for his time, which was mainly around WWI. He loved to mock the traditional perceptions of "high art." One of his most famous deviations was repainting the Mona Lisa (and slightly modifying it in the process) then drawing on a moustache and goatee. He titled the work "L.H.O.O.Q.," which, when said letter by letter in French, sounds like the phrase "elle a chaud au cul" which translates to "she's got a hot a**." And yes, I do speak French, if you couldn't tell by my username.

The Long Winters – The Commander Thinks Aloud Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is absolutely amazing. The first time you hear it (at least the version on Future Soundtrack for America) is an uplifting and inspiring experience. The piano and percussion melt and sublimate together to form the perfect background to the equally perfect vocals.

Death Cab for Cutie – Pictures in an Exhibition Lyrics 20 years ago
Am I the only one who likes the "Chords" version of this song A LOT more than the Something About Airplanes version? I think the extra line adds something to it. It may just be that I heard the Chords version long before I heard the Airplanes one.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – The Angels' Share Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm pretty sure this song is about taxes. I'm probably being horribly obvious, but oh well. However, I can't see how most of the second verse plays into taxes. I've never been very good at devining the meanings of songs though. No matter what it's about, I still adore this song.

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 20 years ago
As a somewhat useless aside, the use of the word "purse" is aufully fitting as, in casino terms, it means the prize and PATD is from Las Vegas and Fremont and 4th is an intersection there.
