it actually reminds me of my ex. he was soft as a rose cloaked in daggers wich to me basically meant, he was a good person but he would hide behind the way he dressed and this rebel image to seem tough to everyone to hide the differences (im sorry you felt that you needed to hide the different inside you) that he felt weak about. we only dated for two monthes and when he dumped me he started acting like he knew all about my life like as if we were married before. and i am basically just like, you think you knew me? he didnt know anything about me compared to most people in my life. and "give up this mision" was a thing like... he was always giving me this advice as if he knew all about my life and once (way before i even heard this) i sent him a message like basically telling him to shut up he had no idea what he was talking about and he needed to stop trying to give me advice on things because he didnt know what he was talking about "Shut up, And listen Why don't you give up This mission Shut up, And look at me I'm just a stranger Who let you think you knew me??" and once i said some kind of bitchy things to him and he started lecturing me with all this advice hoping i'd apoligize to him and go back to him so i just said "i can say what i want, but i take it back because i want to sound classy, and im not going to want you back now or ever." wich makes me think of "Words on the tip of my tongue Taking anger back just for fun I am not your prodigal son" but like... i could probably make any song sound like its about my ex when i get mad enough at him.... |

I couldnt find ANY other source to verify these lyrics. i just listened to the song like five times while i wrote and revised this. i am pretty sure "Your grin I can lease for the anger" is wrong and the word "different" is probably something else... and "Lied on my feet/Loosen the mouth" sounds weird...? and i think the word "ghost" is wrong and i think "taking anger back just for fun" sounds wrong can anyone help me with this??? |

hmm i like this song. every random photo of some random strange person you glance at... you gotta think wow. i wonder how they felt when this photo was taken? i wonder what their life was like. who are they? are they still alive, did they die like thirty seconds after this photo was taken. where were they that day? where were they headed. why? and its like stuff you never think to ask. and since hypothetically everyone is connected by six or less degrees (like bacon numbers) you have to wonder how this person was related to you. for all you know his neighbors dog was adopted from the same shelter as your cousin's dog's grandma or something. but usually when i find a picture of someone i dont even think of things like this it kind of is just interesting |

this song sounds like its about really nasty surgery or disease like "if you hear a bell ring you get some wings" like the thing from that movie whenever a bell rings an angel gets it wings or it could be like on the surgery table when you hear the heart moniter beep go flat (bell ring) you are officially dead (get wings like turn into an angel) and the face held together with three time used strings like stitches except ew... gross We come alone and leave alone and look the horse in the mouth. We scratch the skin and break the bone and see birds migrating south. like an examination and then medicine breaking bones, surgery to make it go right and Fixing a fencepost or feeding a cow, Twopenny saltlick I never ask how. Animals like me though folks turn away, I like the pigeons I like what they say. sounds like people think shes creepy because the surgery or disease (yeah like leprosy?) so she has animial friends I saw a wishing well down by the stream I never understood what wishes mean Just ask for nothing you get what you get. markf i agree... i know its about suicide but i relate to it on a completely different level. the first time i heard this song i thought it was about teen suicide but then on the live album she said its about her when she was like 9 or something. i think its still about suicide but like... i feel like i can relate. this song has such a little kid feel to it kind of. i take it sort of as making a plan to run away. and swearing to and daring yourself to really go through with it this time. i know i had moments like that as a small little kid. i know that kids wouldnt have a car to leave behind so that got me kind of stumped but then i kind of remembered this yellow and red plastic rolly car thing i rode around in when i was little. i loved it so much! i parked it in front of my big plastic playhouse. so thats like the whole "my car" and "my house" stuff. if i was planning to run away for good its true it would be pretty hard for me to give up those possessions! the first time i heard it, and probably the reason i got the little kid image stuck in my head, was because i heard it as "my house, my blocks" and yeah. when i was a little kid i liked blocks alot. but yeah i see its my house my block. which is also kind of youthful imagery like hanging out with all the kids on the block. not fitting in with them would end in teasing and tears. put yourself in the little kids shoes and its a big deal. i really can picture this as a little girl running away. I also really related to the baby bird part of the song. when i was a baby i had like cartoons and the baby birds were the cutest things ever and i loved how jasmine set them free in aladin. it was one of the prettiest parts of the movie and even as a little kid i liked the symbolism. i was really obsessive about pets when i was little so setting my pet bird (or fish or turtle... whatever) free would really mean i was leaving that house for good. because baby birds dont come back. i dont know... i know im going on and on. i still agree with the suicide part. I just kind of say this little girl sitting at a bus stop with a little kitty backpack imagery when i heard this the first time |

" Yeah of course we know that but teh songs are written from the point of view of the fictional characters so the lyrics are bound to show some of 2D's interests which may or may not reflect Daman Albarn's interests. Also we are not so dense to think these anime things are real and that the drummer really has a ghost in his head and Noodle was fed Exd to america and all that but it is still fun to follow their stories. People know the Gorillaz are really just Damon and all them but a lot of us find Noodle, 2D, Murdoc, and Russel pretty fun also. |

| i always get upset by the last line. i always think of this as a song about a long distance relationship and how he is trying soooo hard not to admit that there really is no relationship but then the last line throws me off. "fade together" is like a sequel for me. | |
