I am so bad at analyzing songs to get the true meaning out of them, but I get a strong feeling about this one, so here's my best shot.
Nothing is private anymore. Everyone has facebook or twitter or myspace and we all use them to put down things we are feeling. However, we do it for an audience. We exaggerate and overdramatize things for shock value or to get attention or the latest psycho-babble that sounds good. As much as we seem to put it all out there, we really only put out what we think the world finds interesting. We are too ashamed/afraid to put the way we really feel or what we really find out about ourselves.

I love "I bend to your will, I've fellated myself." My most fave line ever! I think there is a double meaning to it. Dark is right, but I also get the feeling that he's saying he has fucked himself. |

Finally someone corrected it! If you look at the context of the song, it makes absolutely NO SENSE for him to say it hurt not a lot. I'm not a liar is what he is saying. Being raped at a young age, of COURSE it'll hurt, idiots! He told about what was happening to him, but they didn't believe him.
There are still a few words here and there that I don't think are 100% correct yet, but at least K0rnnn's is closer and projects the meaning of the song a lot better. |

I know, this is super old but I absolutely love this song and have been obsessed. I saw the making of the video awhile back on MTV or some other trash. It is so emotional just watching him. The other guys in the band were like wtf? at the end when he just starts crying, so they just kept on until he left the room. I've listened to it over and over and get chills EVERY time. If possible, def try to find the video of the making of it. Jonathan is re-experiencing it all and produced one of *THE BEST* songs ever. Hopefully it did what it needed to for him and helped him heal. |

She could have had me in mind when she wrote this song! It SOO depicts how I feel. It's more about things can happen (good and bad) and no matter what, you are going to learn from it, become better because of it, and move on. I was reading a book that included a quote about the brain being a machine, which even further clarified this song for me. A machine has the potential to become much more than what it was made for. She (I) have the potential for much greater things than was (is) expected of her (me). |
