It's hard to figure out the meaning of the song but I think the main meaning is that everyone is not just handed the chance to do something, but they have to go look for it and work for it and learn how to get it themselves... I think there's also a lot of other meanings hidden within the song. But it is a great song... I love it! |

That's a really great song. The artist is telling people that are losing hope and feel like they can't go on anymore to just hang on no matter what because "Things will get better, boy" and he's saying "It catches up with all of us on certain afternoons" which showes the artist also is going through a hard time, but he's strong so he'll hang and get through it even if he has to crawl he'll never stop moving to try and get through it. And Steve99 is right, what kind of idiot gets the line "I'm certain after you" out of this song, that doesn't even make sense. |

Wow, I can't believe there's no comments on this song already. I think it's a great song by a great artist. I think Slug's message through this song is to tell us to always hang on and live our lives no matter how hard it seems. In the song he's talking about bad emotions that he has but he says, "I can't help but wonder what’s over yonder" so that's kinda saying no matter how bad it seems he's always looking forward towards the future and it makes him hold on. Also the line where he says, "It’s the sound of emotion enough to make me wanna hang myself from the rafter that’s over my bed / But when I stop to climb the ladder that’s embedded in my heart I start to question all the emotion in my head," means that whenever he feels like he's going to kill himself inside his mind, there's always something telling him to chill out and just hang on. That could be totally wrong, but that's the only thing I can really think of. |
