This song, when looking over it again, it definitely about a radio station owner. It seems as if he used his life savings on the station, and it is failing miserably, and he wants to sell it back. I think the song is an allegory on the decline of real, homegrown, local radio. He just can't compete with everyone else and nobody wants to listen to his stuff, even if it's better. Damn kids. |

I think that this song is about the "weight of the world", the struggles of life, getting to be too much to bear. The song is just kind of about trying to make compromises, to plead with the world, just to find your own place (physically , mentally, and spiritually). |

I have been listening to Don Mclean for years and I have had the album "American Pie" which included this song, for more than a few years as well. I just can't put words into any kind of organization that would do this song enough credit, because it clearly is a masterpiece (just like all the rest of Mr.Mclean's songs). |

I do like the song as well. I do find it odd that two people would look at the same song within 2 weeks of each other, a song that is over 4 years old. Perhaps not so odd I suppose, seeing as Weird Al is a very talented music artist. |

A freakin' great song. It is kind of unfortunate no one has commented on any of his songs on here. Regardless, this is such a good song and I think it is really meaningful to Astronautalis and it really evokes a lot of memory, even if you didn't write it. |

This song is about regret. This guy probably left, and thought it was for the better. He is away, somewhere else, as if standing on top of a building. And he trys to make demands and change this in their relationship for the better. But when it all comes down to it, he goes back because he realizes that no change was needed. |

I don't know if anyone has realized this, but May 16th fell on a Saturday in 1998, 92, 87, and 81. The question I guess would be as to whether May 16th corresponds to the bands formation date, which would probably be 1998, or whether it is the birthday of anyone in the band, which would probably be 1981. Just a few thoughts there. It could also be the date of something improtant in a band member's life, such as the date of the band's first gig or perhaps a birthday party that got messed up or something like that. |
