| Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this is my favorite sufjan stevens' song "Wearing three layers of coats and leg warmers" this shows the listeners that it is, in fact, a girl any other reference to the narrator being a girl would be quite redundant, dontcha think? the "best friend" mentioned in the story would have to had an intimate relationship with the narrator because: "Into the car, from the backseat Oh, admiration in falling asleep" the backseat is often the ideal place of 'doing the dirty' but it could also refer to them as passengers but i highly doubt that because it would be quite insignificant the wasp is probably the best metaphorical symbol to use because the narrator has encountered the wasp in many of her most cherished moments with her best friend but when he leaves, she is stung by something that was held in high regard as symbolically beautiful |

| The Decemberists – From My Own True Love (Lost at Sea) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Maybe people assume it's a woman because they are reminded of "The Carpenters - Please Mr. Postman." Well, atleast that's what I was reminded of. |

| Elliott Smith – Needle in the Hay Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"you say you know what he did but you idiot kid you don't have a clue" sometimes the simplest lyrics are the most catchy.. as for this song, i agree that it is about heroin. if my assumption is correct, than this song is even more brilliant noting that the title of the song is "needle in the hay" and "needle" is mentioned so many times but somehow (based on some of the comments posted here) he keeps the true meaning of the song masked. |

| Bright Eyes – Theme from Pinata Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I love Bright Eyes but this song just doesn't cut it. The usually sublime lyrics are wonderful but what the hell was he thinking writing this.. well i wish i had a parachute cause i'm falling bad for you i feel like the pinata won't you take a swing at me It seems like a bunch of cheap, cheesy lines you would use to flirt with your teenage lover.. Also, the first two verses of this song consists of those cheesy likes that I despise. The only lines I like in this song are; winter came to omaha and left us looking like a bride a million perfect snowflakes now and no two are alike but now that's just personal opinion :) |
