The meanings fairly obvious, but that doesn't mean its a bad song :D and as with everyone elese, this reminds me of a girl... we live really close but we still exchange a lot of letter, so things can be explained better and less awkwardly than in person... |

In true Palcebo-song-meanings style, lets say this is about pregnancy tests again ^_^. Post blue = after the test has gone blue. The repeated line "It's in the water, baby" = maybe how you pee on a stick for a pregnacny test. and the answer is 'in the water' I feel the lines in between are ways which could determine if they are pregnant or not: It's in the pills that bring you down = if they take a lot of drugs which are downers. OR perhaps talking about birth control, how they may take pills to lower the oestrogen, and therefore lessening the chance of conception? It's in your bag of golden brown = *cough* heroin *cough* It's in your frequency = the number of times you 'try' for it / have sex It's between you and me = no-one else knows apart form those two? or that it happened between them both. obvious i know but you never know. It's in the pills that pick you up = more drugs!!! this time...amphetamines... It's in the special way we fuck = obvious. It's in your family tree = could there be a hereditary element to chances of getting pregnant? if its a gentic thing, it could be less or more likely. Chorus: This suggests to me that he doesnt WANT her to be pregnant: Bite the hand that feeds = He's caring for her, or living with her and this is a shock to him. how will he support a kid? Tap the vein that bleeds = same sort of as above, in that the baby would bleed him coz of all the costs, etc. He's the one bleeding coz he's bringing in the income? Down on my bended knees= If he doesnt want it, then maybe its like a way of him begging for it to be aborted? or myabe its the whole, "you're pregant, we must get married". so he's asking her to marry him. I'd break the back of love for you = i'm not entirely accurate on the meaning of this phrase but if it means he'll 1. do anything for her i have a feeling this sounds insincere sometimes, like he doesnt mean it 2. he's go against what love stands for, e.g. by marrying her out of responsibility, and not love. END OF ANALYSIS please don't criticise me too much. i just always think of this stuff when listening to Post Blue and wanted to share. |

Not not sure about all of it but i was thinking about this the other day and the chorus "Deep wells, one must dig, if one wants clear water" (sorry if thats not GRAMMATICAL enough for some of you) means thats a lot of effort needs to go into something if you want something worthwhile out of it, like relationships you think? "Deep waters are not still" perhaps saying that something gained from a lot of effort doesnt always end up as perfect or as still as you'd first thought. |

here's my in-depth-ish analysis of :pure morning: "A friend in need's a friend indeed A friend with weed is better": Could mean that the singer's friend needs someone to be around at some time, as she brings weed for them to smoke and relax and stuff. "A friend with breasts and all the rest, A friend who’s dressed in leather": The singer could be thinking to themselves 'she's a friend but look, she's a woman and looks sexy', perhaps through the influence of the weed. "A friend who’ll tease is better": He doesn't want to get involved but likes the fact that they can be close, without making much out of it. "Our thoughts compressed Which makes us blessed, And makes for stormy weather": Not sure, perhaps that their thoughts are simplified down to a simple understanding of need/desire in the moment, and they feel 'blessed' to understand each other? But this momentary unity of thoughts will have repercussions because of their friendship. "My Japanese is better": sounds sarcastic. maybe they thought their friendship would stay simple and non-sexual, but its gone the wrong way and his "japanese is better than their friendship" and japanese is hard to master, so maybe it reflects the complicity of friendships and giving into desires. "And when she’s pressed she will undress, And then she’s boxing clever": maybe...1) when her "button is pushed", as in what she finds attractive/appealing she starts to get closer anbd more intimate/deep but still has her wits about her slightly? or 2) when she's forced by the moment, being all caught up in feelings she gets undressed, perhaps 'playing' witht the singer's emotions. notsure about what boxing clever is but i gathered its like that. "A friend who bleeds is better": She's had a period. Meaning she can't have gotten pregnant. "My friend confessed she passed the test": pregnancy test...obvious...but there has to be sdeeper meaning. "And we will never sever": 1) they won't have to be apart becuase of the events that have happened. 2) they wont have to terminate the preganancy because she isnt actually pregnant. "Day’s dawning, skins crawling": Teh day has come after the events of that night, and the realisation that two close friends have slept together has entered their heads and makes their skin crawl..feel discomfort because of their friendship. "Pure morning": maybe a fresh start, after the night before, they can forget it and live on to the next day.
