"wir sind aus gnade zu spät geboren haben mit hitler nichts mehr am hut" "we were born late by mercy we ain't got anything to do with hitler" whith the first phrase, groenemeyer quotes the former german chancelor Hemlut Kohl, who said that his generation had the mercy to be born too late to get involved into the german crimes during ww2, and because of this, his generation couldn't be blamed for what happened during 1933-1945.

Ich komme zwar nicht aus Bochum und finde die Stadt an sich eigentlich auch nicht so toll, aber dieses Lied erzeugt bei mir trotzdem immer wieder eine Gänsehaut. Ich kann mich nur anschließen, man spürt wirklich in jeder Silbe die Liebe zu dieser Stadt. Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass Grönemeyer es schafft, "seiner" Stadt eine Liebeserklärung auszusprechen, ohne gleich ins patriotisch-chauvinistische abzugleiten, es wird niemand ausgeschlossen oder angegriffen (von dem kleinen Seitenhieb auf D'dorf mal abgesehen). Gerade durch diesen Aspekt wird das Lied zu so einem eindrucksvollen Machwerk. Eine Stadt, der solch ein Lied gewidmet ist, kann sich wirklich glücklich schätzen!

It's about cocaine. in the german original, it says: "Den Schnee auf dem wir alle talwärts fahr'n, kennt heute jedes Kind!", what means as much as: "every child knows the snow who takes us downwards" "Schnee" (=snow) is a common word for cocaine in germany. btw: I've never heard of a 'cop' show called "Der Kommissar" in germany, but anyway, Falco isn't german, he's from Austria... :P
