This song is the conclusion of Bono's long trials to reach physical maturity as a man. "Night" is the wrong word here. It should read "Mine" and if you listen to the album you will see I am right. It is a sad song about the loss of innocence that every person must go through to reach sexual maturity as a man or woman. |

This is the climax of the album, where Bono's mind, in a dream, gives birth to himself. He has for some reason felt compeled to do this, and probably knew somewhat what was going to happen. The howling wind is the blood rushing to his head, the gun is his penis. |
