| Sole – Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| My favorite track off bottle of humans. Obviously it's about being lost and out of place, as to the the actual meaning, i'm not even gonna guess...but the line "no one person is that special, we ride the short bus to oblivion" is near genius | |
| Cage – Shoot Frank Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I can't stop listening to this song. It is about Cage growing up in the drug culture, his abusive father, and his own drug problems. I like Darryl from Glassjaws' vocals on this track, but the real gem is RJD2's production. | |
| Atmosphere – Aspiring Sociopath Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think the lyrics to this song better than the actual song itself. "He's a loner, Dottie, a rebel" is not only a Get Up Kids song, but a reference to Pee Wee Herman as well. | |
| De La Hoya – Follow Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| pretty self explanatory, great song great band. I'm sure at some point in their lives everyone wants to tell their parents to fuck off. | |
| The Suicide File – The Somme Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| the first time I ever saw the file, this was the last song they played, and Dave said this song was about depression, and "depression is a bitch". I miss this band. | |
| The Assistant – four years in five lives Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
great song, anyone caught between the freedom found in punk/hardcore, and the rigidness of higher education can relate. But the heart of the song is how when you are young you think certain things will always be important to you and certain people will always be there for you. However as things change you find out they won't be |

| Rollins Band – Starve Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I agree with tshgoff, this is a concept common in Rollins writing. I think of like a boxer starving themself to shed away fat, and be left lean and musclular. Now, apply that to society, we are fed a diet of fast food, cable news shows, and advertisments. We have to starve ourselves of outside influences to be strong minded and true to ourselves. It's like Hank says "Part Animal, Part Machine" |

| Sole – Shoot The Messenger Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| My favorite track off selling live water, my guess is it's about being an individual and sole's process of trying to put individualism into words | |
| Sage Francis – Sea Lion Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I've always interpreted the song as Sage is frustrated because this is his passion and other people can't understand how much it means to him. The lines: "Get in the bus, hop in the van Jump in the water, crawl to the land Build another castle out of the sand Break it down and then I get into the saddle again Gone city to city I'm already lost to the boss Who is new in town I'ma ride this horse till it bucks me off And I'm forced to shoot it down I'ma take him out for some gasoline I'ma trade this cow for some magic beans Make mom proud of the deals that I've made Cause I'm just a modern day Johnny Appleseed" Could refer to relentless touring to support his dream and spread his message. and the lines: "Piano man got checkered dance floor The grace and the painful look on his face Cause the crowd is packed And the louder they clapped The less he is able to make the connection Between what he sees when he hears certain notes And the hurt that is shown in his facial expression" I think means that he feels like his life and hardships have been reduced to a show even the the title sea lion i think could mean that sometimes he feels like a trained seal, but it is all worth it because he is doing what he want to. |
