This track is completely entrancing! I believe it is a love song! Gabriel is a loved one. "I can fly but I want his wings" - the writer knows she can get along without Gabriel, but she wants and "craves" for his light, craves for him. The most beautiful line "revel in the songs that he sings" - she loves him so much that she revels in his love and "never wants to part". I always thought this would be a beautiful song to walk down the aisle to... it is so beautiful and haunting! |

This song has deep meaning for me also and to be honest ckdamascus' interpretation was in keeping with what I always thought the song meant... I used to reflect on this song a lot back at college. I had a boyf, but fell in love with someone else... As you do at age 19, I felt very torn between the two for a long time. Coincidently the other guy (not my boyf) kept playing this song for me and around me. Full of angst and trepedation I finally broke up with the boyf and got with the other guy. It didn't work out as boyf/girlf, but we shared a fantastic couple of years... Lost contact for a few years and I now he is one of my best friends! And I am getting married to the real love (another man) of my life later this year! ... no Bizarre love triangles there tho! Mind you, early 20's were full of Bizarre love triangles! Also i have to admit i can see the parallels with the guy singing about his girlf who he knows is cheating on him... not too sure about the gay undertones tho! |
