| Fleet Foxes – White Winter Hymnal Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| While I don't take any specific meaning from this song, I've never had music create such a strong image in my mind. I imagine a line of soldiers trudging through a snow storm in silence when one of them gets shot. Of course typing it out in one line doesn't do the song justice--it's really beautiful. | |

@dan356: After reading your comment a few months ago I haven't been able to listen to this song from any perspective but that of a gay fellow. I don't think it was intended, but it fits really well. Does anyone have an interpretation on the following?: I once heard the worse thing A man could do is draw a hungry crowd Tell everyone his name, pride, and confidence But leaving out his doubt It seems to be saying that one should admit to their bad qualities as well as the good, but I think there's more to it that I'm not picking up on. |

| I finished reading Slaughterhouse 5 a few hours ago, and this song just popped up at random. I love the reference, and I'm really curious if it was intentional or a wild coincidence. Great song and interesting interpretations. | |

Many years ago this song opened my eyes not only to Bright Eyes, but to music in general. I would be a very different person had it not been for this song. Not that anyone cares, but I felt that I should give my respect... via comment on obscure song lyric website :) |

| Bright Eyes – A New Arrangement Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Maybe I only see this because I'm living this now, but I see the singer having gone through a breakup with a lot of regret. If only he could "arrange the days in a new sweet sequence," he could have fixed things with the knowledge he found too late. He doesn't want to move on, but "time still drags [him] forward." The relationship was ended because of the singer's emotional problems and "frequent moodswings," which he acknowledges but can not fix. He can't even "fake or force a smile" to fool her. In the final lines about calling to her, he wants to explain how great they were, how she shouldn't leave him behind. He is in desperation wanting to put everything back "exactly how it was before," though she is already moving forward. I definitely see regret, but the breakup may just be a result of my past week. In any case, it has made me feel much better: the reason I love Bright Eyes. |
