at the end, the bit with the "white roses." the white rose movement was this group of people during the holocaust who were trying to fight it. it ties in well with the anne frank theme of the whole album but the symbol probably just means innocence or something. |

instead of "something's flowing, someone buried alive" i hear "some folks float some are buried alive." it's an incredible song though. i love the accordion. |

i think that kankakee is something like the second most impovirshed county in the nation (don't mean to offend anyone). the line "i tremble with the thought of having been at last forgot" is so amazing. my favorite thing about the song is how each of the instruments come in in the beginning. it's a beautiful combination of instruments. |

| The New Pornographers – The End of Medicine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this song is amazing. i think it's about how nowadays there seems to be a drug for everything, how we're telling ourselves lies that we need to be on all this medication, how taking drugs is no longer a badass thing. | |

i believe i read somewhere that when thom yorke was out one night he saw this woman with a gucci purse and she struck him as pathetic. so "kicking squealing gucci little piggy." i love the whole song. i love how you can break it into distinct parts. the end though, in the end when he sings "that's it sir you're leaving..." that's almost haunting. |

on the ep version it ends after he sings about his parents being "lonely failed experiments." this is my favorite song on the ep, definately. it strikes me as being kind of like romeo and juliet, like it's forbidden love - "the neighborhood is onto us," so they have to think of some way to escape and elope. it's a beautiful song. |

| The New Pornographers – It's Only Divine Right Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| it does make sense that it's about the bush daughters. i hadn't thought of that at all. it's an amazing song, whatever it's about. | |
| Bloc Party – Staying Fat Lyrics | 20 years ago |

probably my favorite song in the world. i think it might be about joining cults, about kids joining cults. the bit in the end, "if they want to kill themselves then buy them the gowns" makes me think of the kkk, hale bopp suicide cult, etc. |
