| Okkervil River – Song of Our So-Called Friend Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I noticed that reference to "A Stone". I've always connected the lyric "So wake up, make up some new song again around the same tune" to the part of the song that references "A Stone" ("...you secretly still love a stone"). Like perhaps this entire song sprung from A Stone (the new song based on a previous tune). |

| Third Eye Blind – Motorcycle Drive By Lyrics | 18 years ago |

There are two lines in this song that always make me giggle. "...the cigarette ash flies in your eyes and you don't mind, you smile.." This is so ridiculous. Why not move your head to the side a little to avoid getting smoldering ash in your eyes? You shouldn't have to put up with cigarette ash in your face. It's just not right. Stop smiling, your vision is in jeopardy. And: "And there's things I would like to do, that you don't believe in. I would like to build something, but you'll never see it happen." I know that this is not meant to be taken literally, but I always get this image of some guy wanting to build a bird house or book shelf, but his girl flat out refuses to let him because she doesn't believe in carpentry. She steals his tools and threatens to leave him if he goes near wood. Why won't you just let him build something?! |

| Hawksley Workman – We Will Still Need A Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I am going to with improvised on this one. I saw Hawksley live and he explained that this song was written about one drunken night. I am paraphrasing her but he said he was fed up with the world's injustices and didn't see the point in making music anymore. Making music seemed trivial when he looked at the bigger picture. But his friend convinced him that music, song and celebration were important and that music plays a role in sweetening our world. What's the use in fighting and advocating for a world that isn't pleasant to live in? Then this song was born. | |
