Wow, people manage to find so much *gloom* in this song. I don't see it.
Yes, it's about the end of a great period. Probably of a great relationship. But it's not a dirge, it's a celebration that it happened in the first place, a "so long and thanks for everything".
Not every romance that ends is a failure. |

This song is about a girl who is a horrible human being because she didn't date a boy she had no interest in. However, Avril came along, and she was a girl, and he was a boy, so it was obvious that she had to date him. Avril is an excellent role model for adolescent girls.vidence is given to support this. |

amberlinn, I see that as referring to a connect-the-dots puzzle, where a seemingly random, accidental spread of points turns out to have a definite pattern.

I never got the idea that this song was about a breakup. The lyrics more befit a relationship that should have ended a long time ago but hasn't. "I'm so tired of being here . . . if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave . . . though you're still with me, I've been alone all along." The song, to me, is about staying in a loveless relationship because you hope things will eventually heal (even though don't seem to be doing so), or because you don't want to be alone (even though you have been all along). |
