The Thermals – Here's Your Future Lyrics 18 years ago
I also heard this on Weeds. Although it doesn't completely relate to the show, I loved how they used the lines "Fear me again. Know I'm your father.
Remember that no one can breathe underwater" just as Nancy jumped into the pool and screamed. It just seemed to fit really well in that she finally had to answer to someone higher than her, and there was no escaping, no matter where she went.

Bob Schneider – Big Blue Sea Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this is about a guy who's really bummed out and going through a tough time. The only thing getting him through is his relationship, and even sinking to the bottom of the ocean and lying with her till they're gone is better than facing everything else.

Also, I think they made a perfect choice in using this for the theme of the show South of Nowhere

L.P. – Wasted Lyrics 19 years ago
I think the chorus of this song is really about seizing the day and making the most of it. She starts out saying "Don't waste it /It's only here for today", and also says "Get wasted on love, get wasted on life, get wasted on anything that's right", which is about enjoying everything you can in the moment.

It then goes on to say
"Don't mess with my heart
Don't mess with my mind
Won't let you get us down this time.
You'll like what you see and take it from me
You'll learn to see it over time."

Which I interpret as being about someone the singer is interested in. She's asking the person to see the good things about the relationship and not mess with her. Also, she's saying the other person will like what they see (as in, like her) over time.

I think the last part about being empty and "If you don't give/You're never going to get" is about not getting anything out of the relationship. She's encouraging the other person to put more into it.

Mark Mcadam – Too Hard Lyrics 20 years ago
Although this is a really chill song, it defnitely has some sexual undertones to it ("We could use a little straight on", "do you ever just get turned on?" or "too hard"...). I think it's about a guy who likes a girl who just won't loosen up and let go- she makes it too hard.
