| The Offspring – You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've submitted corrected lyrics for this song. I think the meaning goes along with Hammerhead; there's definitely military references here. Some of the lines, especially those about turning all against one with a clever word, and then disappearing back into the crowd almost make it sound like the person being sung about is assigned with the task of inciting riots against certain targets and letting a sort of "vigilante justice" take care of things. That being said, I think The Offspring released their "Greatest Hits" album to soon; this one looks like it's going to be a smash (no pun intended). |

| Social Distortion – Story of My Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm a freshman in college, and man, does this song mean everything. I just got Guitar Hero III the other day and heard this for the first time. I still remember senior year of high school... I'd give anything to be able to go back and just live that all over again. But I can't. All I can do is sit here, wondering about things now, and waiting until I can get the gang all back together over Thanksgiving break. I agree with Mr. Badguy0077; play this song at my funeral. Send the message loud and clear; it sucks having to live life looking back, regretting what you DIDN'T do.. |

| American Hi-Fi – The Geeks Get The Girls Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm the geek, and I had the girl... damn do I miss her. This was our song, and now, well it's hope. I may have lost her, but we're still friends and there are other girls out there... | |
| Great Big Sea – Ordinary Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| There are countless songs out there that can pick you up when you're feeling low... not a one of them comes close to this song. "There's always tomorrow... it's just an ordinary day." Today may seem like the worst day ever, but a different perspective will prove that life's not so bad. Tomorrow will be better, and life will go on. It's only sorrowful if you choose to dwell on it. This song is the perfect thing to keep you from doing so. | |
| The Living End – Carry Me Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's obviously a drinking song. More importantly to me, this song is on Guitar Hero II, and it's one of the most fun songs to play. I love it. | |
| Saliva – Ladies and Gentlemen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm not sure about the meaning, but this song would make an awesome warmup song for the band, I know that much. | |
| Weird Al Yankovic – Canadian Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Bah! "clean air" not "clear air." What a stupid typo on my part. | |
| Weird Al Yankovic – Canadian Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Aside from that one phrase I can't get, here's a more complete version of the lyrics, plus grammar/spelling fixes: Don't wanna be a Canadian idiot Don't wanna be some beer swilling hockey nut And do I look like some frostbitten hose head? I never learned my alphabet from A to Z They all live in donuts and moose beaks And they leave the house without packing heat Never even bring their guns to the mall And ya know what else is too funny? Their stupid monopoly money Can't take 'em seriously at all Well maple syrup and snow's what they export They treat curling just like it's a real sport They think their silly accent is so cute Can't understand a thing they’re talking aboot Sure they get their national healthcare Cheaper meds, ??, and clear air Then again, well they got Celine Dion Eat their weight in Kraft macaroni And dream of driving a zamboni All over Saskatchewan Don't wanna be a Canadian idiot We'll figure out the temperature in Celsius See the map? They're hoverin' right over us Tell you the truth it makes me kinda nervous Always hear the same kinda story Break your nose and they'll just say "Sorry" Tell me, what kinda freaks are that polite? It's gotta mean they're all up to something So quick, before they see it coming Time for a preemptive strike |

| Weird Al Yankovic – Don't Download This Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is my new favorite Al song. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I heard it, and it still makes me chuckle. 'Cause you start out stealing songs and then you're robbing liquor stores And sellin' crack and runnin' over school kids with your car It doesn't matter if you're a grandma or a seven year old girl They'll treat you like the evil hard-bitten criminal scum you are To me, that's the PERFECT summary of what the RIAA is. BS arguements to justify their actions, and completely BS actions against people who didn't do anything wrong. |

| Eighteen Visions – Victim Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, since this is "songmeanings" and not "bitch about how the artist doesn't sound exactly the same every album," I'm going to take a shot at the song. It seems rather obvious. The relationship is ending. She was probably cheating on him ("I'm the victim today"). He's done putting up with her crap beyond all this too. I'm guessing she played the typical "you don't care about me at all card" at some point ("when I don't care anyway" sounds sarcastic to me). Bad relationship, bad ending. That's my take. |

| Weird Al Yankovic – You're Pitiful Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Awesome. New album on it's way.. sort of, eventually. Awesome parody. | |
| Black Stone Cherry – Lonely Train Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I absolutely love the chorus of this song. I can't quit get the meaning though.. the verses and the chorus seem to be talking about different things. If you want to hear the song, check out these guys' website; they have it there to download for free. |

| Rather fitting song for today, no? | |

| R.E.M. – Star 69 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Seems to me one of his friends did something illegal (perhaps literally burned a warehouse down? I dunno) and is now turning to him for an alabi. Thanks to *69 and the fact that the only other people with the number were with the recipient, he knows who called him and who committed the crime. Sounds like he's going to turn his buddy in too. Then again, maybe that's a bit to litteral of an interpretation... | |
| Edge City Outlaws – Weed Women and Wine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| So, I posted this song because it's been getting requests like crazy on the local rock station. It's an awesome song too; good simple rock. As far as the meaning, it's pretty obvious; he's living it up. | |
| Soul Asylum – Somebody To Shove Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is far from dead! I just heard it on the radio last night. Yeah, it is an obvious song, and it's obviously great. I love the riff and the rhythm. | |
| Nobuo Uematsu – Liberi Fatali Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
On the chorus. I question the Latin here. My Latin is far from perfect, but.. Fit hos lux ec vicos vito set. Fit and lux go together, hos and vicos, and the ec with either, despite how it's sung. "Fit lux (ec)" is "(this one, that I was I just talking about) light is made." "Vicos" is a village. "Vito set" is "but I shun." So.. "This light is made, but I shun this village." I've never played FF8, but it seems to me that this is about a peace or prosperity, liberation from evil, being brought.. but one city is not given the light. The city remains in the dark. Perhaps the city that the fated children are from? They must rise up and bring the light to the city? |

| Silvertide – Devil's Daughter Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I've been hearing this song on the radio for a month or two now, and I'm loving it. It has a very Southern-Rock feel to it. However, as far as I know, these guys are New Englanders (though, feel free to correct me, as I'm not sure where I heard that). As far as the meaning, I think it's rather straightforward. Sometimes the "angel" types aren't quite so angelic as they might seem. |
